I travel about 24 miles and it takes me 35 minutes.

Country road and an interstate.........but a very quiet stretch of highway.

I like the commute...great scenery and time to unwind on the trip home.

I have just applied for a job that will probably take me 45 minutes to commute to, if I can avoid the worst of the peak time. It's about 25 miles. Trouble is if I manage to avoid the job commuters, well, it's at the beach, so I'll run into trouble with the mob going to enjoy the beach and boardwalk. Plus after working either at home or with about 4 miles of work for the past 12 years, going back to a long commute is going to be a beach ;) assuming I get the job. I used to commute 75 minutes to work, and that was definitely too much.

I travel 20 mins. it doesn't bother me one bit. When I worked for UPS I travelled 45 mins (but was getting paid for that). Don't want to travel more than 60 mins.

Takes me between 25 and 35 minutes depending what time I leave.

Tough to set a limit. I'm sure the one hour that I chose would be negotiable if the price was *really* right.

I know I said I commute about 45 minutes and 60 minutes is the max I would commute . . . but I don't want to do that at all. I just don't have much of a choice do I??

When I started working for my company about 12 years ago, I was driving about 30-40 minutes. I got to where I could work from home sometimes, work out of town or drive to the office. So it does change up a bit. My recent commuting takes me to a different location within the Dallas area, so the mileage hasn't changed that much, but the length of time to commute has due to having to ALWAYS go during the prevailing rush. And when there is an accident on the 10 miles of major freeway that I get on . . . the time can go up quite a bit!!

Well, since I still don't have the EAD I can only answer the last one. My answer is ''No limit. I will commute as much as I need to if the offer is right!" That's because I love to drive, it's like a therapy for me, so it's all good.

Haha, trust me, if you HAD to drive every single day just to get to and from work each day, you might start finding it extremely energy-draining. I did that last year and although I didn't mind the drive itself, I was exhausted everyday since I was already putting in 12-15 hrs into my workday, sans the 70-80 min (one-way) commute.

I probably have the most unusual and abnormal commute due to my line of work. I work on the US Gulf of Mexico on petroleum production platforms on a 7 day on / 7 day off shift rotation. I live on the sea for the 7 days I am at work.

At present I am fortunate to commute roughly 60 miles by car from Houston to Galveston and catch a helicopter in Galveston for a 100 mile flight to my assigned production facility. By car and helicopter my present commute takes roughly 2 1/2 hours.

Thankfully I only have this commute when I go to work and when I return home.

My worst commute ever was driving 407 miles one-way from Houston to Venice, Louisiana. Venice is south of New Orleans at the mouth of the Mississippi River. It took 7 to 8 hours of driving in the best of conditions. I then had to catch a crew boat in Venice for a 2 1/2 hour boat ride to the production facility. I did the reverse trip to go back home after 7 days at work. I was glad when I got transfered from that job to a closer location to my home. A 9 1/2+ hour commute is too much.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995

Like I said, I love to drive.

I sold my car I think in 2001, so for the last years (since I didn't have a car anymore) the last 2 jobs I had and 1 other job while in college, each were at least 1 and 1/2 hours by bus, more than 1 bus, switching bus. That is extremely exhausting because I'd be leaving home at 6:30 am and coming back home around 8pm plus I hate public transportation with all those sweating people pushing you :bonk:

So if I was making good money, I wouldn't mind how long it would take for me to drive to work. I would mind tho if I had to use public transportation, then I'd change my answer to 30min at most.

Edit: bad bad english...

Nessa,

Re public transportation: I feel the same way about the bus, I would never take the bus to work. In fact, I haven't gotten on a bus in over 8 years. I refuse to even consider the option.

I do, however, love the subway and the train. Not sure why exactly. It could have something to do with the fact that the areas served by the trains here (NYC and surroundings) are a pain to get to by car. You like driving? So do I. But I don't like idling in traffic and that's what the train to the city helps me avoid.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

You have a good point about "if the money's right".

I love to drive too, but not for long stretches every single day.

Funny... I'm the opposite about public transit. If I had to pick "one hour commute by public transit" or "one hour commute by driving", I'd pick the former because then I could take short naps and work on marking assignments / writing lesson plans!

Well in the summer I walk so it takes me 45 mins...during the winter it is bus time and it takes 20 mins at the most. I prefer the summer routine even tho it is longer cos I lose weight and there is no waiting about.....and it is free of course ;)

How many miles? Just curious. I can't imagine walking 45 minutes to work, but that may be because my walk would be across highways and through a dilapidated industrial park lol. I assume your walk is pleasant.

It is about a 4.5 mile walk at the most.... and no highways or anything like that to deal with :)
