In the U.S. the goal of the vocal minority homosexual community is equal "marriage" union rights.

By their constant screeching over the past decades they have garnered the support of the liberal community, who, as history has shown, will "bend over ..... backwards" for any "cause" .... (as a solid "voting bloc" of course).

Anyone opposing this vocal (screeching) minority is labeled a bigot. You know, if you throw something against a wall eventually some will stick -standard propaganda technique refined by the Nazis and Soviets.

After achieving legalized "marriage unions" it is obvious that the next goal will be utilizing the U.S. Immigration Laws to petition for their "significant others" from other countries so they can be "joined together".

K-1 Fiancé Visas for male partners, or would it be Fiancee? - not sure of the wording for two males seeking legal union.

Raising a family is a non-issue since adoptions are considered equivalent to "childbearing".

I don't get your point, are you somehow threatened by the possibility of the scenario you described? How does the scenario specifically relate (with examples) to a "standard propaganda technique refined by the Nazis and Soviets." ?

The immigration problem right now has many problems to fix, and gay unions are not backed by federal law at this time. So what is your point?

A universally applied statement is not a specific example. It is also a false statement which in turn could be labeled as propaganda. Pitiful.

Statement referred to: "Anyone opposing this vocal (screeching) minority is labeled a bigot."

Well, where I live (Close to Portland, OR), if you have any other point of view other then thier point of view, you are label as such. In fact, you could very well be fired (by them finding a reason) for your point of view if it is not in-line with thier own. So next you will say this doesn't happen right? Come to Portland, OR...Hippie ville USA. Pot smoking capital of the world. Also the highest unemployment rate.

This is why ideological diversity is so important. There are stories like this all over the world, of little pockets where (almost) everyone thinks the same way and when that happens a 'dissident' can be in a world of hurt. This is true for the hippie paradises of San Fran and also if you lived in certain 'conservative' parts of South Carolina.

One-party rule is just the symptom. It's the triumphalism of a single ideology that is the true danger.

The reason people are opposed to it, is because it affects our Judaea Christian philosophies in which this country was founded on. Our forefathers wrote our country up based on these values. The idea that a marriage is between a man and a woman.

To name a few Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland etc., these countries have adopted same sex marriage. The result of that (Shown in statistics. Google it), is traditional marriage is almost non-existent now in these countries, and births out of wedlock are on the rise. Of course the births out of wedlock affect the society as a whole, which in turn begets other issues that I will not get into at this time.

See, this is not just about gay marriage; this is about the society as a whole.

1. Freedom of religion also includes freedom from religion - although the last 6 years sure don't seem that way.

2. Births out of wedlock are already very commonplace here in the US. I doubt allowing same sex marriage will cause them to rise further.

Unless there's been some kind of scientific discovery I'm not aware of, you still need an opposite-sex coupling for birth to take place. I fail to see the link between same-sex marriage and individuals of opposite-sex having babies out of marriage.

That's unfair. There's enough of them where they deserve at least their own continent. Give them Europe.

I've never been subjected to that. But then again my entire career has been with large corporations that have strict policies about that sort of thing. When you play both sides, you kinda have to. I also get the sense that the northeast, while reliably Democratic at this point in time, isn't as nutty as the left coast is.

I'd be interested to see those "statistics". In fact, a quick google search revealed one major article about heterosexual marriage rates in scandinavia - written by Stanley Kurtz, of which there is a good deal of criticism.

To correct you slightly, none of those countries permits "Gay marriage", but rather same-sex civil unions.

Maybe not now but didn't that scientist lady on 'Lost' successfully impregnate a male mouse? :P

I think Lurker was saying same sex marriage would somehow reduce what marriage 'means' to society as a whole causing fewer marriages. I don't buy into it. As Reba said earlier, same sex marriage doesn't affect my wife and I in any way.

From what I have seen San Fran, and Portland, OR are the top hippie villas in the left-coast. Nothing like going downtown Portland and watching all these 20 something year olds begging for money with one hand, and hitting the pipe in another. The local police have thier hands tied on this issue too. One of my friends is a local sheriff, he has some pretty interesting stories to tell about all this, almost criminal.

What is even more interesting is the out cry for "diversity" in a left city like Portland, but if you look around, this is about the most whitely dominated city I have been to in the US with such support for the term. Is there a connection here that I am missing?

It already means less. Marriage is more of a legal contract these days and less of a vow before God and/or the community. It ought to be the latter but our society has changed.

Fair enough, but lets say that this trend grows...and people give into this. How would you feel if your son or daughter was then pressured into having these types of relations because society has flipped in what is acceptable and not? Sort of like "going with the crowd" attitude if you will.

Haha... new england is the standard bearer for liberalism and tolerance in the northeast and they are also the most white.
