Entering the US with CR-1 Visa

If you are issued an immigrant visa, the consular officer will give you your passport containing the immigrant visa and a sealed packet containing the documents which you provided. It is important that you do not open the sealed packet. Only the U.S. immigration official should open this packet when you enter the United States.

I had my Embassy processing and interview last week, but was not given a sealed, brown packet. I was only given a CD-rom (which seems to have come from my medical examination maybe).

Has something been overlooked or has the process changed?

Ah, ok. Thanks! Do you know if it will arrive along with my passport, which I'm expecting to be delivered today? Or is it mailed separately?

The Cd Is your chest x-Ray which nobody in immigration has further need for. Your delivery from the courier will have an outer wrapper containing the sealed envelope (marked DO NOT OPEN) and the passport. Remove the wrapper to get the passport out, and leave the paper envelope intact. It has all your immigration files and the medical results. Edited by Nich-Nick
