Best place to stay in Montreal?

We got a great flight / hotel deal on Travelocity at the Marriott Montreal Chateau Champlain. It's a lovely place (all non-smoking), with a subway stop down below, and it's only a 10 minute walk to the consulate. I'd highly recommend it!

La Tour Centerville is the closest, but sure not the fanciest, lol!! My room had a kitchenette, was clean, but nothing special. if my wife was going to be coming with me, I would have probably have preferred to stay somewhere a bit more fancy/modern. I belive they charge around $20 a day for parking, but not sure.

Dont know if this will benefit anyone else but the Hotel Centre Ville is also pet- friendly.. I know this will sound weird to some but we will be driving to Montreal and taking our cats with us.. they are both diabetic and we always take them with us when we travel..wish I could get Areoplan miles for all times we flew with them, their tickets were almost as much as ours!

has anyone else driven there, are you able to park at the hotel.. ?

what do you plan to do with them while you're waiting in the consulate for your interview? Leave them in the hotel room? Will they let you do that? Most pet friendly hotels won't, at least, none that I've stayed at.

I came across that when looking at different hotels in Montreal that are pet friendly.. some say that they must be in a crate if left in the room, others say that they cant be left at all..

they emailed that they have a special floor for people with pets, and a pets in room/do not disturb sign for the door.

"Yes we have parking and it's 16.50 + tax per night .There is extra charge if you keep the parking after your check-out time at noon."

not exactly off topic, since it was mentioned on the first page, haha :

so k1 visas cannot be picked up next day, but k3 can? is this current? i wouldnt mind staying another day in montreal and going to pick it up, instead of waiting and hoping canada post wont screw anything up, hah

also, for reeeeally cheap rates, i didnt use hotel sites, i went to yellowpages.ca and did a proximity search around their address for motels, then checked out their websites. most of the motels arent on the hotel websites, only hotels.
