Hi everybody,

My question is about the letter of intent. A friend told me that it can be like all the letters a person is accustomed to writing...the kind of letters we start by "Dear darling" and ends with "Hugs and kisses" but this time with a basic information in the body that says that I'm willing to share my life with my love and willing to marry her (= still, informal letter). BUT, when I took a look at the example on this very useful website VJ, I noticed that the letter of intent here is VERY FORMAL with a lot of details like starting with the address of the petitioner then embassy and so on....

From your own experience, ladies and gentelmen, how should it be? Formal or informal? and if you can share with me your letter of intent, I'll be VERY GRATEFUL. Otherwise, I'll be also happy to hear your opinion dear friends and THANKS A LOT in advance :)

Cheers,

Sarassine.

Believe the intent is to be explained to the agencys not to the individuals, general statements as in examples

First, Thanks so much for the swift answer TracyTN and brnidokiegurl. Well, the question is that the friend who sent me the letter of intent has gone through this journey of k-1 successfully and that's why i find it hard to just copy that example instead of following the letter he sent me. So, basically, I was just wondering if everybody did like him or followed the example here!?

brnidokiegurl stated clear when she said that I will not be explaining my intent to individuals, which makes sense actually...

Follow the example letter of intent. It is not a letter of intent to your girlfriend - it is a letter of intent to the USCIS. The form letter is exactly how the letter is meant to be written and is exactly what thousands of petitioners use.

Just use the example (as an example) it doesnt have to be exact words, in your own thoughts, but similar format of thoughts. I used my own words he basically used the example. Now we need make another one for the Casa interview.

I used the example letter from VJ, and it worked for me.

Good luck!
