Actually I'm fairly sure people in Europe see the US, with its bizarrely polarised ideologies as some sort of weird caricature. I don't seem to remember political debates in the UK boiling everything down into one of two ideological extremes - as though that ideology is, in itself the problem.

It even the classical Labour Vs. Tory rivalry looks tame..

Despite the fact that I think this discussion has turned completely idiotic (as usual?) I'd like to add that I doubt most people who devote their lives to finding a cure for HIV or a vaccine are not unmotivated by their not-high-enough salaries or something. I don't think people are doing it for the money. I could be wrong though. Maybe everyone is a self-centered a-hole.

So these people should not be reimbursed while your typical liberal Hollywood actor or even worse dumb-### singer should get all of the money and fame.. Lets not reimburse or support these guys conducting this record breaking research, for humanity, but lets support champions like Katharine McPhee and put them on a pedestal..

That ###### actually pisses me off. That Singers Actors and athletes are idolized in America, especially among young liberals, yet everyone else who is actually making a difference is basically told to shut-up and put with it because they are not be doing it for the money..

Because in Europe it is not cool at all to tear apart your country and claim it is the root of all evil, as so so many liberals in the US do.. Need I seriously give examples..

Not true at all. I know a lot of people (friends and relatives) who described Britain as a "dead country" and who were quite prepared to get out if and when the opportunity were to arise. You might find the French, Greeks and Italians rather more nationalistic than the British.

Don't you just think that the worlds top 25 Climatotogists could just get together and make up some phony solution- like say "If everybody in the world just adds 1 ice cube to their drink each day, global warming would be solved", then split up the $25 million between them and never speak of global warming again?

Gosh this sounds so familar...where else did this same type of thing occur? I know it happened with something else. Any help here?
