So I have my interview next week in the Chicago office. I would like my wife to come with me, but since it's an 8:00am appointment, I don't think we're going to have much luck with a babysitter. Is it ok for her to bring our toddler with her? How long does it take to wait and do the actual interview?

Why do you need your wife for? You are the actual applicant and the only one required to appear for the interview. If she can come that nice but not required. Many people applying under the 3 year rule do not even bring their spouses and those who brought them were never asked to call them in the interview room so why would you give such hard time to your wife and your baby? If the officer ask, just tell him or her that she is home with your kid.

If you have answers to any of the questions I've actually asked, I'd love to hear them. Otherwise, I'm well aware who the applicant is and am not asking about other people who don't bring their spouses.

Someone from Chicago can give you better information, but I've never read anything about kids not being allowed... just use your judgement and don't ask your wife to come along if it's going to be a big inconvenience. Most interviews take 10-20 minutes but some go for an hour... but some people wait for an hour or two to be called at busier offices.

Good luck.

Hi Abuflaan,

I had my interview last week and there is even a little play area for the kids. It is a large waiting area so you should not have any problems if you do bring your kid with you. Make sure you get there in time, because sometimes security can take a while. We waited for 15 minutes before I was called in and then the interview itself took about 25min.

Good luck
