Filed I-130 separately from I-485

Could someone please recommend what should be done now in the following situation? I am a U.S. citizen petitioning for my mother. My mother is already in the U.S. I did not do enough research and made a mistake mailing I-130 by itself to the Texas Center instead of mailing it together with the AOS package to the Chicago lockbox. I indicated on the I-130 though that my mother was going to apply for adjustment of status and she is already in the U.S. I called the INS 1-800 number and was told that it would be ok and I just needed to send the AOS package and the copy of the I-130 receipt letter to the Chicago lockbox. The lady on the phone told me that there was no need to file another I-130. The only problem I have with filing another I-130 is paying another $200 in fees for it. I would appreciate any advice on this issue. Thanks!

Send the AOS application along with the I-130 receipt to Chicago.

Copy of the receipt, keep the original.

Yep, just send the copy of the I-130...i also filed separately ( was told to do so by the uscis ) and once it was approved i filed my aos ( but i believe it is not necessary to wait until it is approved....)

Thanks! That's what I was leaning towards as well. Although my coworker's husband is an immigration attorney here in town (the only one in town, I might add), and he told me to file a new I-130 along with the AOS package. But I don't think it's necessary as long as USCIS does not lose anything. I do not have much trust in immigration attorneys anyway after I've seen how badly they've messed up my friends' paperwork and prefer to do everything myself. This was my first faux-pa...
