It is very minor and so bringing it up won't cause any harm, but if he wasn't detained and it was only $150, well below the $500, did he really need to bring it up

Yes he does, since he incorrectly answered "No" on the N-400. That could already be considered perjury (all USCIS forms carry a warning that intentionally providing incorrect information is a federal crime) although there's essentially no chance of them pressing the issue. He should correct the record at his interview though.

Hi, I have a similar question. Only thing is that my husband will be applying for the provisional waiver I-601A and as a minor he was detained in his country Guatemala, for trying to get a visa to visit Mexico with a fake ID. They took his fingerprints and was arrested for a couple of hours until an adult from his family picked him up. My question is... coud he have a problem from getting his waiver and visa approved?
