It's not that easy for me. I will first have to apply for permission from the German authorities to retain my German citizenship. Once I have that document with a positve result in my hands I will go ahead and apply for US citizenship.

I think they should either bump up the citizen requirement to 2 years or lengthen the removal of conditions to 3 years...

that way you have a choice on whether you want to remove conditions or apply for citizenship... it would save some money for those of us that want to become citizens...

Very true Marilyn...very well said! I mean after all, we all already went through the conditional process and the interview (well, most of us..lol) - so why the rest the long way? I dunno...perhaps it's something to do with getting more money...but would that be a cynical supposition? *cackles* :)

I'm with you there -- I've been here for over 7 years now and I feel like throwing a box of Lipton Tea into the Charles River to protest about taxation without representation (my hubby thinks I'm mad!) :jest:

Assuming that I'll still be able to take dual UK/US citizenship, I will be filing the first day I'm eligible to (Feb 9th 2008) with the hope that I'll be able to vote in November 2008... it took them over a year to sort out my AOS so I'm still pretty peeved that I will have been married for 4 years as opposed to 3 by the time I can apply. Grumble grumble <_<
