Hi peeps. I held on the phone for an hour last night, but finay got our NVC case number (the app was received by them yesterday!). My question now is - what can I actually do with this? Is there an actual benefit to having the number now, or do I just have to wait like I would have done anyway?

You can now book your medical as long as you have the required documents, your vaccination history, medical history, police certificates, 4 passport style photographs.

Once you have a date you can submit your notice of readiness and then once the embassy has your medical results which they should get about a week after the medical you will receive your interview letter 2-4 weeks after that.

Make sure you read the complete London k1 guide, you should have known everything you need to by reading it.

You can also start tracking it via the CEAC status tracker.

CEAC

Enter the NVC case number. Once your status has changed to 'Ready' you know the embassy has received your file.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Our case updated to 'In Transit' yesterday, so I'd like to now book our medical. I notice though that on the Knightsbridge website, it says you need form 'IV18A' to bring to the medical. People who book their medical before the application arrives at the consulate - where are you getting this form from?

The questionnaire is at this link. Make sure you book your medical out far enough that your case will be listed as 'ready' at the embassy so that they have a file to put your results in...
