I was thinking of going to Jordan in July for a week to see my husband. However I found the airfare to be outrageous! 1600.00 round trip. Which is out of the question. I emailed my travel agent however... I was thinking...

If I asked my husband to check the travel agents there in Jordan, would it be cheaper to book thru them? I did get great rates when I needed to come home thru them.

Does it make a difference or not at all?

July is high season and $1600 is pretty good. Most of the people I know have paid between $1750-2200. May-September is high season in Jordan, its much cheaper to go off season. I don't think you are going to find it much cheaper, buying it from Jordan wouldn't make a difference but it doesn't hurt to check!

Thank you I am going to email them tomorrow and see what they can do. I know it is peak season there at that time but there has to be somehow to get around the really high prices.

When I go back, I want to go sometime between November and February...I can't stand the heat ..I was there in December 2004 and it was not cool enough for me lol... I don't see much'a difference between getting tickets from here or from Jordan..either way is totally expensive!

I have used Jett Travel in Burbank Il for several trips. I went once in June and it was $1300 out of Ohare. One trip was $1100 in Sept. Mohammed just paid $870 for a February flight. One of my Sept trips was hotter than the June one! I am looking forward to seeing Jordan with a sweater on and not dying of the heat.

Have fun Wendy! I wanted 'hotel' but my husband prefers we get an apartment.

Hi Wendy,

I am facing the same dilemma. I have a great agent out of NJ though who quoted me $1200 in June. July and August $1600 is the best I've seen. My FIL to be used to work for RJ and he confirms the prices over there - no better.

I think I'm gonna end up going March 30th for a week. I got a quote for $700 through my agent. Ping me and I'll send you his number - he's in NJ, but I'm sure they can book it over the phone and express your tickets.

1st K-1 Journey:

June 2005 - filed

October 2005 - visa interview

March 2006 - AOS packet mailed

The rates of course go up in the summer months. The risk of not buying early is not finding a seat on the plane. In June it's difficult on RJ to find a seat and they go fast. Then returning in August it more difficult as the summer travellers are heading back. I think the last cheap fare ( out of ORD DTW) in first week of May. I am willing to bet it's around 1050-1100 out of Detroit at that time. Summer season $1600-$1800 and I've seen some upwards of 1900. It's all about supply and demand and the demand is off the charts in the summer. Also the planes will be filled with wild kids....so the ride over may not be so pleasant. I once got a trip in Dec. (not incl. Christmas week) for 750. I paid last April $1180(?) for 3 weeks. I think you can buy tickets in Jordan, but the problem is they need your passport to book it. Sending that over and then getting it back will cost $, if you use a secure method of sending it back and forth. Don't forget that the ticket you buy (in the US) will cost money to be sent to you here unless you pick it up. ~$20.00 Not sure if RJ is aboard with the e-ticket yet.

All those who use RJ don't forget they have a frequent flyer program so visit their website to sign up.

I would call ACCESS Travel at (734) 975-9988 or Skyway Travel out of Southfield, MI (248) 559-2800. The owner is the honorary counsel of Jordan in Detroit and his staff is great. Ask for Layla. She is great!

I recommend Orbitz.com or Expedia.com........check those sites before a travel agent, usually much cheaper.

Has anyone used RJ's checkin in Amman? I read you can check in, and take a bus from there to the airport. Saves from standing in line once at the airport. Just wondering if anyone has heard of that.

Jackie (F)

Our flight left on Saturday morning and we went to the RJ office on the 7th circle on Friday and checked in our luggage and our flight. We each left out a change of clothes in our handbags, it really made traveling a lot easier!

So you can go a day early, leave your bags and then do you get seat assignments? Then just need to get to the airport and go thru immig and customs? If so, that is a definate improvement to my last trips.

My 2nd trip in 2003, I was at the airport 2 hours early. I was one of the last 7 people in line and when I got nearer they announced that the plane was full. These were my choices, stay in a hotel in Amman for 2 nights and fly out Monday. or....fly that day to NY, stay in a hotel and then on to Chicago. no thanks, nothing against NY, but I had enough vacation. or......take $150.00 and come back in 2 days. I went to the fastlink booth and they were so nice to call Mohammed's cell for me and tell him to come back and pick up his wife.
