Morning everyone,

So I have this question with regards to work - we are restructuring (new COO) - my current job has me as Assistant Director to 3 Directors and then teaching and then assisting to whomever is related to the Director (faculty, student clubs etc.) - so it has been busy.

Now they are trying to create a different model of how we work whereby I would be assisting not 3 Directors but 4 taking on extra things and the co-worked in the office (who btw had only dealt with 1 Director and per her own words - is not good with processes, procedures or remembering what her job is .....) she should be widening her horizons and we should be splitting our responsibilities depending on what we would like to be doing.....

now....my problem is that it seems like, at least in my case, I am being pulled in all kinds of directions and adding another Director would be insane and neither of us would ever remember which task belongs to which person.

In my opinion - 4 Directors, 2 Assistants = lets have me handle 2 Directors and her the other 2 BUT where I struggle is ....should I voice my opinion ? It seems that they think since I haven't been here that long I should just let whatever happen ...I disagree....so I was thinking to email my opinions/concerns to the COO just so I know I made my point - then if they decide to go with something else --- fine...at least I made sure they know what I think ?

sorry...I come back...I have things to say....

Morning everyone !

I would just grin and bear it.

Prove myself in the field.

Not voice my opinion in an email.

The reason is, you've only been there for a few months.

You don't know what kind of politics are going on there.

They don't yet see you as a "ringer".

You're not "in the club" yet.

You have no clout.

I'd give it some time.

You might be surprised at some of the things you see.

In real words, you don't know who's banging who.

Who's asking who to look out for who.

Who's trying to get into who's pants.

who hates who.

Who's related to who.

Who's trying to make who look bad.

There's a lot going on there.

Much more than meets the eye.

If it were me, I'd step back and observe. Prove myself at what I do and beyond. Then I'd wiggle, sneak, elbow my way into "the club". Then, whatever you have to say, complain about, will have weight behind it. Other wise, for now, your words will merely raise concern, and not necessarily work out in your favor.
