Other than what you provided, which was a subject I taught in graduate school and keep somewhat abreast of since my major business partner is a tax accountant. Having total income fall but taxes rise is common when you have several sources of income taxed at different rates, especially with these phase-outs of things like personal exemptions, the Obamacare surcharges, etc. It is not something automatically wrong, and if you have the returns it should be obvious by inspection where the differences are without even needing to ask them.

My partner does the individual taxes as that is his PhD/CPA credential. I do the public finance end, as that is my PhD. This last year I did the analysis on the negotiated tax agreements between the major oil companies and the North Slope Borough. I got them $2 million more, and they don't seem to care much that I live in a cabin.

oh man, I ate too much Jewpanese food. Tried to get a car wash, but the line was like 2 blocks long. So I came home and hosed off the car myself. You had to see the winter's worth of grime, salt, dirt, etc....coming off the running boards, wheel wells, undercarriage......man.....That's why I only used 1 car all this time. The accord is nice and clean.
