Yay tbone.

Tried to stay awake last night in preparation of todays overnight shift. Went to bed at just past normal time due to boredom. finally decided to get out of bed about now (and changed house clocks) so lots of sleep. Will take nap later. Feel fat and lazy which will go away with the monstrous workload which awaits tonight and the next two afterwards.

Cat is officially driving me bonkers fyi.

I used a tax calculator to find out how much we'd get back. When I put my income in first we owed money but when I put hubs in first, we get back a good chunk.

Then something is wrong. It is violating the commutative property of addition.

Are "do it yourself" wills any good or should we find a lawyer?

A holographic will is just fine. That means written by your own hand. Some jurisdictions want a witness to sign as well, so do that. Mine requests that if possible, a thousand slaves are to be executed for my servants in the afterlife. People tend to think of holographic wills as being written in an emergency situation as you are dying. But it is not necessary.

For the year 2014, I made 7000 less than 2013. I made less on dividends, and less capital gains. Had a second child. I paid Moe property taxes, had more deductions....

The mix of income matters a great deal. Combine that with surcharges for Obamacare and the phase-outs of standard/itemized deductions and anything can happen when the aggregate is lower but has a higher proportion of more heavily taxed income.
