Kiddo ate oodles of veggies as a baby. I introduced cereal at just 6 months. By the time she was 4 she wouldn't eat veggies or most fruit anymore. Meanwhile at a year she was eating all of them except green beans... she's never liked those.

Even current mealtimes are excessively frustrating. I blame her father and his lack of both cooking skills and eating of anything but potatoes, meat, and bread. To that I blame his mother.

I've got my doors open already!

But in a very short time I will have to close the house up and keep the blinds down because it will be hot hot hot!

It took many months of battling and without my mother's meddling hand to get the kid to eat vegetables every day. The kid eats exactly what we are eating or there will be no dinner.

I think some of it for me was also that my mother can't really cook and honest to goodness thought up until this year that corn and potatoes were healthy vegetables. It is a cultural thing partially - her mother was German and their family was poor, so they got a tiny piece of meat, loads of gravy, bread, potatoes and a pile of something like canned peas that they had to eat straight.

Danish people are the same way, like when I ask for salad for dinner I got something made in a cream sauce. I think they looked at me like I had two heads for piling lots of raw vegetables on my plate not in a cream sauce or just wanting perfectly steamed or sautéed vegetables. Like my husband got green beans growing up, but they were wrapped in bacon. -_-

My husband drives me nuts diet wise - he'll eat healthily at dinner or maybe lunch but then just can't fend off the sugar cravings and will have junk food later on and if it isn't in the house, he goes out to buy some. This could totally be solved if he'd eat fruit, but he rarely does. I've also tried to convince him to try metformin to regulate his insulin levels, but he refuses. :ranting:

Air conditioning?

We've got a prairie style roof, so we don't get that much direct sunlight in the house. I kind of wish they didn't do it on at least one side of the house because it really limits the ability to grow houseplants.
