why

Chocking and possible aspirating on it. The rice cereal is thicker so you need a bigger nipple hole which then makes baby suck harder and bigger mouth fulls.

Really it's an old wives tale, when it does look like it helps it's usually coincidence. If you're really desperate I would just make some and give it on a spoon.

Some doctors do give instructions for acid reflux about putting it in the bottle. But then you're still holding baby while they sleep to keep the reflux down, not laying baby back flat.

Anyways this is what i'm told.

Now for my two cents! Get a wedge remove any extras out of the crib incase she rolls because of the wedge. You said before she sleeps good in her swing or when she is held so maybe the angle will help. Next when she was born how far along was she? less then 39 weeks?

Also because it is impossible to know whether the digestive tract is ready for it at 4 months and it can cause issues with gluten intolerance and celiac disease later on in life if it is not.

6 months is a much safer bet, but you could probably skip the rice cereal all together - it really isn't necessary or healthy.

Next when she was born how far along was she? less then 39 weeks?

Oh no, I wouldn't want the egg roll to chock......

And, 39 weeks, what's that about 100 days?

That's about right.....

She was born 2 weeks early.

2) It's gone after 7 days, unfortunately... Gosh, I so do not want to work... Why can't I win a lottery?

There was a devout Jew. His name was Moshe. Everyday for 50 years he'd pray to God to let him hit the lottery.

Frustrated after 50 years. He plead with God to make his peace. He said; " dear God, I'm a good Jew, I pray everyday, I raise my family right, why oh why won't you let me win the lottery?"

No sooner than when he said that, a lightning bolt lands right in front of him, and a deep voice said; "oy.....Moshe, meet me half way, go BUY a lottery ticket!"

Non stop sneezing!

K I wanted to know as I found out with the 2 little ones both where born before 39 weeks and both had reflux. Seems is babies born a bit early tend to be more refluxy

Nola I'm told that Doctors now say rice cereal at 4 months for formula babies, some will even give the OK for veggies. But that is what I'm told as the recommendation for breastfed babies is nothing before 6month still.

When the older one turned 4 months, I held a spoon of Gerbers peas in front of her. She gulped it right down lol. It was love at first bite......

I'd still wait to be on the safe side, but the reason for me waiting with my daughter was more anecdotal. My aunt had told me to put rice cereal in the bottle to help the little one sleep because it was the only thing that worked for my cousin. My cousin versus siblings has many many problems into his adulthood, so I decided to chuck that advice.

*shrugs* I'm skipping all of that baby food stuff this time. It took until this year to finally get my daughter to eat real vegetables, mostly because she was so used to the purees that didn't taste or have the texture of their real equivalents. She was starting to get to the upper end of healthy weight and then now, she has really trimmed out just from eating really plain - meat, veggies, etc.

I also had rice cereal and baby food and my parents just couldn't get me to eat well - I really wonder if it might be linked to the obesity issues in this country. Start 'em early on processed food and forever they will be.

Ya lots of back and forth with when it's best to give solids.

So far lately they all seem to agree that foods earlier is showing less food allergies then what they thought before. But for nursing babies they still say wait till 6 months, I would guess because nursing still exposes them.
