looks like obama has as much luck picking rebels to support as he does picking alternate energy companies to bail out.

Cuban presence c700, unclear how many of those were combatants.

I had the after brief on that one during a SAME meeting at the Officer's Club over looking the Potomac at Fort Belvoir, a stone's throw from the Pentagon. The Cubans were almost all special forces and combat engineers. The engineers parked all their equipment on the tarmac to keep the US planes from landing on the air field. Some of the first troops on the ground were US combat engineers , many making their first jumps out of an airplane, to move the equipment off the tarmac so follow on forces could land.

Perhaps they should have called AAA?

It was still a giant CF - they decided it should be a joint forces effort. At the last minute, they realized they didn't have a functional map of the island, so they rushed over to the Defense Mapping Agency to get one. The technician went to a file cabinet, pulled out a tourist map, and drew grid lines on it. He walked over to the copy machine, and asked them how many copies they needed?

I have watched Heartbreak Ridge. Seemed a pretty accurate storyline!

Perhaps they would have been better off with maps from AAA?

The officer that gave the briefing had high praise for the Marines, although he made no particular mention of that particular recon platoon in the movie. Seems once all the various units accomplished their missions, there was no follow on orders of how to proceed from there, and no real coordination on even how the various units were to communicate with each other during and after they finished their tasks. So, being Marines, they did what they were supposed to do - complete the mission and link up with everybody. And they did, saving the day.

We kicked the Bejesus out of Cuban forces in Grenada!

Seriously, though. The US has won many a conflict, only to stay around too long one the party is over. And, Democrats have a peculiar way of snatching Defeat from the Jaws of Victory, this President is an extraordinary example of that.

What particular defeats has this President snatched from which particular victories? And don't come back with Iraq and Afghanistan if you want to have any expectation of being taken seriously.

To be fair to Obama he seems no different to his predecessors.
