Hey guys, do you as a petitioner or your fiance/fiancee as petitioner planning to come together to the interview? I know it is said that the petitioner may come, but do you think that will affect the judgment?

I'll be in Casablanca with my fiance, but I don't think they let the petitioners in with them there, from what I've read. It's probably different at other embassies though!

I'm going because even though it may not be necessary, it certainly is a plus. Also then I can spend a little more time in Ukraine and we can travel back together. :)

You should read about the consulate you'll be at and ask on your regional forum because the importance of being at the interview together varies from one place to another, even though in each region, only the beneficiary is actually interviewed (the petitioner, I assume, must wait outside the interviewing room). For example, in my case, it's an unwritten rule that the petitioner must be present at the consular interview or else it's highly unlikely the visa will actually be granted. So while, for some of us, this means additional costs in many orders of magnitude, it's what must be done if we're to be together with our loved ones.

04/16/2014: When Darren Met Harel (in person for the first time)

08/14/2014: The Proposal (but in Mexico, not Alaska)

02/27/2015: Flight of the Application

03/03/2015: Reception (Christopher NOA1an's latest masterpiece)

09/25/2015: 205 Days Later (NOA2)

05/11/20116: Engagement ended for familial reasons

As much as I would like to visit, time does not allow it. I have a business to run and two daughter to take care of. Melanie is sharp and can handle the interview herself. She has also traveled abroad before so no need to escort her to her new home. :)

Hkell naw I'm not planning to be there! But if the situation were a little more stable and safe, I would have planned to be there - or at least tried to anyways. I have written a letter confirming my desire for the visa to be approved and I wrote a little bit about myself and about our relationship; including what I would change about him. It was probably irrelevant, but I wanted to address a few points on what the officer might have asked me if I were there. I agree, they may not interview you at all, but I don't believe there is anything stopping the officer from interviewing you if they chose to.

While your fiance will probably get approved without you there, I can't help but to think that your presence would have an impact on their final decision. When they recognize your face from those photos in the petitions, I imagine you've introduced some serious bias against the doubt of a legitimate relationship.

Good luck to you!

So sweet, good luck!

Unfortunately there isn't that many beneficiary from my country I guess and it's a little hard to find fellow Indonesian that are around the same time frame. I heard conflicting experience from few in this forum so I guess everybody's different. I agree though it seems like an unwritten rule that the petitioner should come. Good luck to you and your fiance, I hope they speed things up for you!

My fiance is also busy with farming work as its now spring, he'll come around July but I don't think he can make it if the interview is in June (I'm still waiting for the embassy to contact me so I can fly back for interview but all my documents are ready). Good luck for you and Melanie!

I am also thinking that maybe when embassy emails him to ask for my contact he can explain the situation. But it's true I really hope he can come to give an extra weight to our application. Good luck to you amhara! Edited by Fractalina

By email, when you call back in 1-2 days you will have to verify your name, and email as well as the beneficiary name, DOB, and email address.

My fiancee called NVC at the end of last week.

They gave her the usual speech, that they have received our file but it was in the process of being put into the system and couldn'tt give us a case number, and that we should hear something within 15-30 days.
