I wanted to ask, what is everyone planning to do for the vaccines? Are y'all going to get the vaccines at the foreign medical center or when the fiance arrives?

I was initially thinking of getting all his vaccines done in Kabul, because one of the vaccines is required to register for classes, but since he may not arrive in time to start the fall semester, we might as well wait until we get him on my medical insurance. One thing I thought of is getting all the vaccines in the foreign country may look positive and may suggest dedication to our petition. Stateside, I think we still need to go to a particular doctor (aren't they called something like civil surgeons?) but hopefully they would accept health insurance. I just wanted to see what my other VJer's are planning and if anyone has gotten that far. You guys may be able to give reasons for vaccines now or to wait that I didn't think of.

nope getting mine already at my doctos here. just 2 left and I got all I need to have

Actually, you aren't required to get all the vaccines before getting the visa. The fiance can chose to come to the US and get the vaccines prior to filing the AOS. (http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/types/family/fiance-k-1.html#7) under, Medical Examination and Vaccination Requirements, "K visa applicants are encouraged to get the vaccinations required under U.S. immigration law for immigrant visa applicants. Although such vaccinations are not required for K visa issuance, they will be required when adjusting status to that of legal permanent resident following your marriage. Applicants are therefore encouraged to fulfill these vaccination requirements at the time of the medical examination."

I am wondering if it will be more cost effective for us to get the vaccines here. We would need to pay nearly $200 more for his medical (he needs ALL the vaccines) but they may all be covered under health insurance, making the out-of-pocket for us only the $25 copay once we are married and add him to the policy. But then again, I am wondering if the officer would look at the fact that we did not fork out the extra dough as a negative sign - maybe a lack of dedication to our future? I dunno...

We will be doing our vaccines before coming into the USA only because it will be cheaper in Russia over USA. But not sure yet. But I guess think of where will it be cheaper and do it there.

Hey everyone, been away for a while and have just gotten around to updating my timeline.

Not sure what happened at NVC, I called a little over 2 weeks after my NOA2 and got a case number. I think about a week later CEAC website said "in transit".

Case arrived at the consulate in Paris on May 7.

Waiting for packet 3 now.

For people asking about vaccines, I also read that it is not "required" but I really wouldn't try going to the interview without all my medical stuff up to date, but that might be just me worried to get denied...

You guys have been busy posting here, I have some catching up to do, must have missed 20 pages!

Hey guys! I just checked the DHL website and tracked a package from the NVC to Casablanca - it left Friday and arrived today. Even though the CEAC site says it's still at NVC, what are the odds do you think that it's ours? I mean, surely they have other people not on the Visajourney website that are applying too, right? I'm on the neverending hold with with them now - it's been a good 25 minutes but I'm not hanging up! hahaha!
