just wondering, aside from waiting for about two weeks - one month after NOA2 and then calling the NVC, are they gonna give us notification of the case number (MNL) through email or text or update it on the USCIS website? please let me know if anybody has an information. Thank you.

From what I have come to find out is that while TSC will notify petitioners via the USCIS case status tool that the case has been transferred, CSC does not complete this step. Also, while TSC cases are sent to NVC within a few days of NOA2, CSC takes closer to a month. I don't think we get the embassy case number electronically. I believe we either need to call and get it or wait on the hardcopy DOS welcome letter.

I probably shouldn't call it that; I don't know what it's officially called and I've read other posts calling it that.

It's the letter that Department of State, or NVC, sends when they receive and ship out the petition to the applicable embassy. I don't know if you have received your NOA2 hardcopy, but it states:

"You will receive notification by mail when NVC has sent your petition to the US Embassy or Consulate. The notification letter will provide you with a unique number for your case and the name and address of the US Embassy or Consulate where your petition has been sent.

You should allow a minimum of 30 days for the DOS processing before contacting the NVC. If you have not received any correspondence from the NVC within 30 days, you may contact the NVC by e-mail at NVCINQUIRY@STATE.GOV. You will need to enter the USCIS receipt number from this approval notice in the subject line. In order to receive information about your petition, you will need to include the Petitioner's name and date of birth, and the Applicant's name and date of birth, in the body of the e-mail."

So I guess it's actually called the notification letter. I think the US petitioner is supposed to get it, but not 100% sure (I hope so anyways! We don't need ours being sent via hardcopy to Afg!!!!)

Be patient. As I expained in an earlier post, CSC is in Orange County and they have just finished the Spring Break season here in OC. Many people (including government workers) take time off the spend with family. Locally, it was a three-week cycle with the colleges, high-schools and elementary schools all alternating weeks off. Less staff will increase times along with the extra work added from the extra apps sent from TSC

There are a lot of people waiting for many, many months at TSC that would love to be in your horrible situation (sarc) and are likely annoyed by your whining about a measly 39 days. Again, refer to my post yesterday and you will see that the 14-21 day processing times for NOA2 are completely unusual historically and they have typically run closer to 45-60 days in the past. My, we have gotten spoiled by our recent good fortune...

Be realistic, exercise patience and temper your expectations and this will be a smoother and less frustration ride for you.

Everyone wants to be with their loved ones. You are no different.

Doh! Sorry about the acronyms!

Department of State

The letters actually come from Department of Homeland Security. So, technically you left out the "S". DOHS, is part of USCIS (United States Customs and Immigration Service).

The Department of State issues passports and visas once approved by USCIS.

OK now am confused.

"For approved applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center or the Department of State."

NVC is part of DoS am i right? and Dos is the one who will send the letter (that they already forwarded the case file to the usem) to the petitioner with the case#, right?

ugh so confused...

I missed something...I think we are talking about the same thing, but...

Yeah, after the NOA2, we should expect a letter from Department of State, which is NVC, correct? I was saying DOS as in Department of State, not USCIS. I thought NVC was DOS?

Basically yes.

Department of State is the higher level. Department of Homeland Security in next level down and then USCIS is next level under them. NVC is a division of USCIS.

As an example, Border Patrol and ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) also falls under DHS.

Think of it as a large corporation if it were a big company with several divisons.

I have dealt with nearly every department in the US government it seems except for DEA. Its good to have the experience but has not always been good experiences. :((

As you can tell from my previous posts, I know the govrnment mindset from past experiences and have tried to convey that here, hopefulluy without bias while keeping things real for everyone here.

Don't worry Sabrina we are right with you. We have the same exact date for NOA2 and we didn't hear anything either. Maybe this week we will, don't worry it will happen very soon. Who knows maybe we have the same person doing ours that's why we didn't get it yet. There also still people from March 12th that haven't heard anything either.
