My husband arrived on Friday, Dec. 4th via Chicago. It was pretty smooth. They asked him nothing. Only for the packet and they looked for a specific page, and then let him go. We were expecting at least some questions, but apparently not. Very thankful for that. Everything else has been pretty smooth.

We applied for our marriage license today, then got married, and went back and got the official marriage license copy. We also went to the social security office, but I kind of figured we're a bit early since he hasn't been in the US for 10 days yet, but the lady filled the entire application and copied all necessary papers and said she'll start the process on Tuesday and let us know the status. Good that we don't have to go back there.

I want to add him to the lease and my bank acct, but not sure if I can without a SSN.

We are slowly, but surely getting there. At least we're married now! :)

Happy New Years to all.

An update for Daisy and Jessica..... We are all in Korea (Green Cards in hand on Dec 7 if I remember correctly). This coming September or October Daisy will take the Naturalization exam and interview using a "Fast Track" option available to spouses of US Citizens working in the service of the US Government waiving residency and marriage time (3 years) allowing citizenship to be tested for and gained at any time after marriage. Jessica of course will obtain citizenship automatically through Daisy. :D

That's awesome! I didn't know that there's an option like that (not that its applicable to my spouse and myself hehehe). Well hope it will be a smooth process for them ! :) goodluck!

Thanks, we are both excited about this as it will make the process of renewing my security clearance much easier. I missed one point though. The US Citizen spouse in service to the US Government must be working at an overseas location to take advantage of this.

Hello Everyone :-)

My Update

We just finished our interview today. Interview time was 2:10pm. We arrived 30 minutes early. We were called few minutes after 2pm. The Officer asked for our Passport and ID. We gave my husband Passport, my Passport and my Driver License. Then he got up to make copies of the ID's. He came back. Asked my husband his address, social security number, phone number. He asked him those questions that were in one of those many papers we filled out. ( answerable by YES or NO, like are you planning to be a spy, are you involved in any prostitution, have you hurt or killed someone... all those.. he was just reading it from the file in front of him). Then he just asked me to confirm the nature of my profession. Asked if we have any new documents to include in our file. He said he doesn't want anymore documents that he has in his file. So we just gave him new bank records, new insurance records, new certificates from training we attended. And then he gave us the Letter that says Approved. He briefly explained about conditional permanent resident status and told us to wait for the Resident card in the mail within 4-6 weeks.

By the way, just got Employment card today too. Will go to DMV for DL exam this week since we have Employment Card to show them. DMV denied my husband to take DL exam because he didn't have any card to show but told us that if EA card arrives, he can take the exam.

Thanks everyone :-)
