Thanks for the answer!

Hello Everyone!

I have another question and it is in regards to the I-134 affidavit of support. Did I need to send that document in with my K! visa application packet? Or do I just give that to the embassy when we have the interview? I read online on different websites that the I-134 just needs to be used at the embassy, not the USCIS process itself....please help! Because I am actually very worried that I messed up the application since I didn't send in the 1-134 page. USCIS did accept my application in march, but will not having the affidavit of support hurt our chances?

I sent my I-134 form for the interview only. That is when they asked for it

You can apply a few days after you arrive for a SSN which gives time for your record to be updated in SAFE. You will not be allowed to work on that number till you complete the AOS. But, having the SSN will allow you to apply for other government processes.

More information here.

oh okay thanks ..so after we got married ..I should apply for the AOS asap am I right

When you pass through immigration they may print out an I 94 for you. If not you can go online and print it off but you should wait for about 3 or 4 days for it to show up. Then bring that with you and with some other documents to Social Security to get your number. If you check at my website I have the instructions for you. The link is in my signature below at the twisty arrow.

The sooner you apply for AOS the sooner you have a GC, can travel outside the US on emergency conditions (doing so otherwise could jeopardize your status) and you can find work.

Most embassy's have what's called a "Embassy Letter" which outlines the required documents and some other protocol items that are used by your countries specific processing. For your Embassy it can be found here. http://photos.state.gov/libraries/ukraine/895/pdf/K_Instructions_001.pdf

Follow what is in the letter and you shouldn't have any problems at your interview.

As to address your question about the I-134, it is needed for the interview BUT some Embassy's (I am familiar with The Philippines Embassy and they are not asking for it but in the "letter" they say it may be asked of the beneficiary during the interview) are no longer asking for it. Yours still may so be needed so I recommend that you prepare it in the event the CO ask for it.

Hello Everyone!

Another question. I have a friend who applied for the K1 visa 10 days ago and just got a response from USCIS that their information has been looked over and is being sent to the Kyiv Embassy for review......is this possible? She was denied a tourist visa about 6 months ago and applied much later than the rest of us for the fiance visa.......is USCIS sending over the info to Kyiv this quick so that they can be denied the K1 visa instead of waiting months? OR do you think that this is legitimate and that after 10 days, they had their case reviewed and sent to the embassy....Doesn't seem possible, right?

That's a good question but I think you would have a better chance of getting an answer over in the VJ Regional Thread for Ukraine located here. The thread your in is everyone who are filing for a K-1 (March 2015) from many different countries and since they are learning about their countries requirements, they may not have the answer you seek, whereas there are those who are in your region that may have the experience you seek.

It sounds more like they got their NOA1. If they have an A-number, then it's their NOA2, but if not, they just got the letter saying USCIS received their case. CSC is still working on late June through July cases, but some August cases have reported their NOA2's too. But I think I've seen early August cases in that status.

However, USCIS just checks to see if you are eligible for the visa - they don't determine if you will get the visa or if you should be denied the visa. They send it to DoS (Department of State) for that decision. The tourist visa application would have no effect at the USCIS level, but may need to be addressed at the embassy.
