Hi guys,

Finally made it to the US on the 7th. It was a rough journey as we had some extreme turbulence on the flight......enough that a kid was saying "weee" while us adults were praying to live. He also was shocked at the heat in my area when he stepped out of the airport. First day was rough, there was an extreme summer storm that rolled in and the wind knocked a tree down over the power line which then caught the grass on the side of the road on fire. He is not accustomed to such violent storms. I was thinking what a terrible chain of events to add to an already stressful life change.

POE was Atlanta and I was allowed to go through the same line as Igor. The officer who was checking everyone's declaration forms told Igor, "Welcome to America" when he saw that he was a K1. The officer at the Tripod area was not so nice. The female K1 in front of us was not questioned and she was alone. The officer asked Igor several times where his wife was, if I was his wife, and then calling Igor my husband. I wondered if he was doing on purpose to trick us. He then started questioning me on my handwriting on the declaration form, saying that I wrote a different address because he didn't see an I. I didn't let him upset me and calmly said I just wrote sloppy, though really you could see it was an I and the address was the same. :/ Then he asked when the wedding date was, and I replied that we didn't have one because I wanted to sew dresses for me and my daughter. I added that we were trying for within six weeks. After that the officer calmed down and did as normal explaining procedures. I wish I knew what made him want to grill us in such manner.

My kids love him, and my parents are glad to see he is exactly who I described him to be. :) We are living separately for now til marriage, but we are literally on the same property so just not spending the night together. He is doing well for so many obstacles, like a new place and new environment, different weather.

Wow, that was a ruff first few days. Glad to hear things are getting better. It should be easier next summer when you can slowly adjust while the weather heats up.

How long is the NVC taking to process their end?

When you get your NOA2, you should get a new USCIS message when the case is transferred to NVC. CSC doesn't update the messages, but TSC does.

I feel like I was waiting for nearly three weeks for our case to be transferred to NVC, but other TSC cases with same NOA2 dates (old petition dates) were getting to NVC within a week.

After you get your NOA2, check your USCIS account for the "transferred case" message and call the NVC immigrant line to get your case number. After that, you can use ceac.gov to see where your petition is in the DoS system. It should leave NVC within a week of arriving. Then you will be with the USEM.

Farrieress! Wow, what a story! I commend you two for doing things right! What a rough start stateside!

Your case status may take a few days to show anything on ceac.gov. I know it seemed like nearly a week for our case!

I think you should call USCIS. They will probably approve the petition regardless, but you may have some problems when you have the interview at the embassy. Your documents and the DS-160 you fill out on ceac.gov will conflict with the first form on file. It's probably not the largest error in the entire planet, but he may want to mail in the revised Form G-325A to USCIS now. However, I'm sure the USEM will be flexible if you give them the updated one during the interview. Try to correct it for consistency and transparency sake, but I don't think it will have a negative impact on your application.

If I were in your position, I would try to correct it at the DoS level since they seem to be more responsive. But you never know, someone at the TSC may pick up your case to associate the revised form with your petition and just be in the NOA2 mood!?!

Gosh! Totally different! I can't believe how long USCIS has decided to sit on those cases even after the transfer! CSC seems to be running out of work with their current pace, despite having the whole nation's K-1 petitions. Makes me question the 10,000-20,000 received quarter figure they release. But they are probably nervous about botching a transfer like they did in 2014. That was real bad.

On a brighter side, February is getting touches. One timeline I am following was from the middle of February. May August leave us fast and follow with a good September!

So we got married yay! :) we went to ss office to have my card name changed. The ss officer said we need to wait for the ead card before they can change the name on the card. So ok we didnt get a new card.

Then we went to the bank to have me included in my husband's account. The banker couldn't put my married name since i still dont have an id with my married name one it and he cant just use the marriage certificate so he put my maiden name on the account and told ud to have it changed when i get my ead card...

The only documents where my married name is reflected are the marriage certificate and the lease on our apartment.

So with this, is it ok to include the bank account document in the aos packet even if its under my maiden name?
