Update on Daisy and I: After a successful (if late) arrival on the 28th, we are settling in well. I took off work until today to help Daisy and Jessica get acclimated. We are so happy to finally be together. We went to the Social security office last friday (4 days after arrival) and am waiting for her card to come in, then we will get her a state ID card.

Good luck to those still waiting and congrats to all those I missed.

The SSN officer is wrong. Yes the K-1 is invalid once you clear immigration at your POE. The I-94, which is created during processing through immigration, allows you 90 days to fulfill your obligation to get married. Then, you are in "limbo basically" till your GC is approved. But, by the activity of submitting your AOS package covers you for immigration till your GC arrives.

The SSN officer is wrong on the next point. You are eligible to receive a SSN before your GC/EAD arrives. Read what you need at my website here.

You do have to wait one or two weeks to make sure that your name is already on the SAVE database as the SS will use that to verify your status.

We actually brought all the documents we need to apply for a SSN but they insisted that they wont give me unless I'll get the authorization card from the immigration.

The officer told me that my K-1 Visa expired already since I already got married. They didnt even care about my I-94.

My question is do we need to submit our AOS first before we can get SSN?

Had my interview this morning at the London embassy and all went smooth. Was approved and told I should receive my visa within 2 weeks.

Hello me and my fiancee want to start aplication for k1 visa and can u people tell me if is better to do with lawyer or i can do by myself? thank you.

Most do it themselves. It's a pretty easy process, but the hardest part is the "hurry up and wait". Or better said they don't hurry and you still wait.

There are wiki's here that can walk you through the process. Many members here have gone before you and can answer any question if you get stuck. I'd say do it yourself.

If your wife is immigrating from the Philippines to the USA then you may find my website helpful.

That's normal. For me it was about a day or two until it pass to issued.

If you didn't get a form with a list of documents you still need to provide it just means they're putting all in the system before issuing you visa.

Check again tomorrow, hopefulyl it will be issued by then. If not, I'm sure that it will be fine on Monday morning.

No i didn't got anything the lady just said it'll be in mail next week. But AP ..ya we know it means mostly waiting for like ever :D that's why i'm "worried"
