Congratulations! I'm soo happy for you!

Our NVC status is in ready status for about two weeks. So far no update from the embassy in Paris.

Yesterday I have decided to contact them by mail, just to verify if it got there and if they can send me a PDF of packet 3, as there is nothing on their website.

This is the response I got:

Dear Sir, Madam,

Whenever an approved I-129F petition (paper file) arrives at post a packet of instructions is mailed to the selected Agent (the U.S. Petitioner, the Beneficiary or a Lawyer).

The complete process until the issuance of the K1 visa may take from eight to ten weeks sometimes longer if an administrative processing is required after the interview with the Consular Officer.

We have a very busy schedule and are dealing with the files accordingly.

Sincerely,

IV Unit

Does anyone have any experience with the Paris embassy and the interview booking process or any info on what they want for the interview?

My only problem is that I need to plan ahead a travel to Paris which is obviously getting more expensive as each day goes by.

I really don't want to call them, as one call cost 14.5€ (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).

I know I had to wait for Russia for 2,5 weeks since the status "ready" showed up. Good luck and it will be soon! But be prepared to wait for 4-6 weeks.

Small rant..... Airline prices for July are horrible. :(

Normally I'd fly Delta but it's up to $2,500 for one ticket. I looked at Skyscanner.com and looks like I can get better pricing flying in to JFK than my usual route, and then flying to my airport. Doing that way I could potentially save $2,500.

Does anyone have any experience with the Paris embassy and the interview booking process or any info on what they want for the interview?

I really don't want to call them, as one call cost 14.5€ (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).

Have you found any information on the Paris Embassy Info tab or under the France Portal tab? Also try looking at some reviews too. That helped me in deciding what to do next. However, I don't think calling the embassy will help much. If they say they are backed up and working their cases now, then you will probably need to wait. Someone posted on another thread that the embassy's computer system was down (at least in Singapore), and this brought their scheduling to a halt. That may have been isolated to that one station, but either way, you are at the embassy, so that's the good news.

I hope your wait isn't too long. Ours will be longer than a month, but hopefully will only be 6 weeks waiting for packet 3. I have been checking the prices like crazy and the August fares are insane! If he does get an interview in July and gets the visa at that time, we probably won't be able to bring him over until September or even October by that time. I'm wondering if we should not go ahead and plan another trip to Dubai now since I know that I can bring him over in November. If we could see each other in July, that would be so awesome, but I hear you on the "what should we do?" I don't think you or I can plan for the travel just now because we need to wait on the embassy.

I don't think anyone knows about this. Has he tried calling USCIS for the number? He still may be on record as the previous petitioner, so they may give him that info. It's not like an SSN. If he can't get it, then he may need to explain this. What sort of "papers of that kid" are they requesting?

Small rant..... Airline prices for July are horrible. :(

Normally I'd fly Delta but it's up to $2,500 for one ticket. I looked at Skyscanner.com and looks like I can get better pricing flying in to JFK than my usual route, and then flying to my airport. Doing that way I could potentially save $2,500.

I assume most people on this board travel a lot. I fly about 100K miles per year. Here are some tricks I use.

1) I live by Kayak.com. Always use it to find the fare, but DO NOT BOOK through them. If you get messed up on the trip the airline won't help. So always look for the best route/fare and then go on their website and find it and buy it from them. 99% of the time its there

2) If you live in places like Atlanta and Minneapolis, many times you are "land locked" and fares are higher. Many times you can arrange to fly on one RT ticket to say New York, Chicago or Houston where fares are lower and match it up with an overseas trip. Be careful giving yourself time to recheck your bags if you do this. Since you have to recheck when you return to the US I don't see this as too bad of a hassle for the dollars you save I think you see this trick from your JFK comment

3) Best fares are usually found buying on weekends and traveling on Tuesday-Thursday. More flexible you can be the better the fare

4) Figure out where you want to go early and then shop for a few days. It's amazing but I have seen fares drop 500USD in one day on the same flight and same classification. The airlines are constantly messing with fares especially overseas ones

5) Part of comment 4, in that I sometimes look at the seat map and figure out how many seats are taken. If it looks fairly empty I will watch the prices on that flight and then get it when the prices dip.

Be patient and work it. Good Luck!

Be patient and work it. Good Luck!

Great advice! I see that Kayak does offer a much better price from Dallas to Dubai. I would have to break my brand loyalty to Air Emirates and I'd need to bounce around a lot (actually need to fly to ATL), but eh?

I didn't know you could see the seat map before you purchased the ticket! I will need to play around and find out how to do this!
