I had my interview today at Atlanta. Just came back from there. The officer approved us said green card will be in the mail in 10 days. But still no status update online.

Congrats!

What is the general consensus on how long to wait after a interview without having heard anything before trying to escalate matters? We had our interview in Chicago on the 5th of August, and we were told on the spot that we were approved, but it's been three weeks, and there's no status change online, no welcome packet, and of course, no card.

It does seems like from others experiences (Lettyana, RnZ), that they are indeed taking a while to send out the card, but it does seem like there was atleast a status change online, or a welcome packet mailed out.

I called the USCIS helpline yesterday, and the Tier 1 agent was fairly unhelpful, referring me over and over again to the status page, which indicates that Chicago is still processing I-485 applications from September 2014. I asked multiple times what that meant - whether i would thus get my card in 6 months (my submission date was march 6th) - but all she would say was she had no idea. I know the September 2014 can't be true, because i know people who submitted in Jan/Feb and have their cards already.

What is the approach to take here? Call again and ask to speak to Tier 2 agent and have them set up info pass? Write to senator? Any advice is much appreciated!

get an affidavit letter from your father in law stating you live at that address with your spouse , from; to present and that he takes care of the bills

Thanks for the suggestion - i just tried it, and after filling everything out, the response i get is :

"Your application or petition is currently within the posted processing times. An inquiry may not be created at this time. Further information about recent processing times can be viewed on the uscis.gov webpage."

So nothing to do but wait i guess.
