Thats awesome congrats!

Which documents did you bring? Cause the interview letter mentions a long list but also mentions "if not yet submitted"

hmmm She did not really ask for more documents actually.

We basically jus talked and walked her thru our love story. She was very interested in how we made everything work because it was the same sex marriage between two asians.

And then we talked about our hobbies and what we are going to do after we graduate since both of us are grad students.

at the end, she approved our case.

I believe u will do jus fine as long as ur marriage is genuine.

But it is always smart and advised that bring some pics and more evidence that proves ur marriage is bonafide. like financially and physically.

oh and one more thing, I noticed that some people dressed very casually (like tees and jeans), but I think it is a good idea that u dress up a little bit for the interview. First impression is very important. LOL

good luck with ur interview, u will do great! :goofy:

Thanks - thats very helpfull information!

Hi nesta37 :)

Goodluck on the interview. Don't worry much on the interview, you'll do just fine. We're actually the same situation before I got my GC just this June. I'm also a March 2015 AOS filer. My husband (US citizen) and I also known each other for 6 years before we got married too and yes we just did a civil wedding here first then probably 2016 too for our wedding ceremony back in my country.

The Officer did not ask about the marriage if it's by paper only that is alright as long as you bring your certificate with you. Just a tip, only answer what the Officer is asking and don't give too much information unless she will ask about it to avoid any mistakes :) You can also check my timeline for my AOS interview as your reference.

You can do it :)

Thank you for your reply - makes me feel a little better. I kinda know that with all our history it would be silly if they don't approve me (if this wasn't legit we kinda went far to get a greencard - having 2kids and one on the way, haha), but the whole process makes me nervous and doubt things :-)

03/18/15: Send application

03/22/15: Application received

03/25/15: NOA 1 emails/texts

04/13/15: biomnetrics appointment letter

04/16/15: successful biometrics appointment

06/10/15: Received email - EAD picked up by post office!

06/11/15: Received EAD

06/18/15: Received interview notice in the mail for July 20th 2015 (was send on 06/12/15)

Ok one more question I still have plenty of time for my interview (july 20th) though.

But me and my husband got married just on paper - at a friend wedding. So he could go on my medical benefits and to start the green card proces. However we are doing the weddingparty in june 2016 in Belgium (Already fixed a date).

My husband (he's the US citizen) is a bit worried if we tell this during the interview (when they ask).

However we've been together for 6 years (met in the US, while I was on a legal L1visa) - moved together to Canada for 3 years (for my job) - then back to US (again me on a legal L1 visa) and we have 2 kids and a 3rd one on the way.

You think it would bring up a question that we married on paper only?

Thanks.

Don't worry too much I have a similar situation I've been with my husband for almost 9 yrs and we have 3 kids but just got married last year in October and we didn't have a reception or anything like that and I'm not worried about it. We have a legitimate marriage and that's what counts!!!!

Same here! It all suddenly feels like it's moving!

A quick question for folks as well - we used my salary (with my H1b sponsored job) for the I-864 and I found out recently that my job is going to end. I've got one of my American cousins to co-sponsor me and he's filled in all the paperwork and sent it to me. Should I wait until the interview to bring this up or should I call USCIS now? Any advice greatly appreciated!
