Hi, just curious about your post. I still have my SSA from college but I just received my EAD card. Are you saying I need to somehow update my SS number now? If so, how do I do that?

elisacbgarcia's answer is correct. Yes, based on what I learned on my first visit to SSA two weeks after I got here in US, the lady whom I spoke with told me that we have to update SSA everytime our Immigration Status changed so that's what I did when I got my GC, I went there 10 days after I got approved. Take a deep breath and relax you can do this Regarding your W2s, your husband can ask for it on his past employers and have them faxed it over or your husband can check it online on adp.com if his previous company has it. Actually on our interview, the Officer did not looked for it not even my more than 200+ pictures. God Bless

hi kabayan... thanks for your reply..I hope they will not really look for the originals.. Before the original copies were lost, I have few extra photocopy of his last 2 years w2, we have tried to ask from his company a copy of it hoping we could get another Original copy but they gave us a photocopy instead,maybe once the original is lost then duplicate copy will always be in photocopy,,,,careless me,???the only original I have on hand is his W2 2014..I am praying We can get through...positive vibes..??? thanks again

For those who just got their EAD and your name in your SSN is in your maiden name, you have to go back to SSA office to get a new card without any restrictions written on it, for name change bring along with you your Marriage Contract..they will verify your status with DHS and will get a reply from SSA after 2-4weeks...once verified you will received new SSN card, with the same number but name will be under your married name and no more restrictions written on it..

DMV update.. I was not allowed to get written test because the name in my SSN card is not in my Married Name, EAD card should match with SSN card.. So I need to go back to SSA for name change, once I have the new SSN card that's the time I will be entertained again at the DMV office..

kabayan, how about your Joint Account? Was it in your married name? We applied at Chase Bank cause that is his bank here ever since, the bank allowed us to have joint acct. but they put may maiden name on it..Because my SSN is in my maiden name and didn't match it with EAD..they were looking for another name under my married name and good thing Bank of America isn't that complicated enough to have a name change, I just did mine an hour before We went to Chase..So even if I had the Married Name in my statement for Bank of America they still put my Maiden name in our Joint Account...Well, they may have different rules to follow, I hope this will be fine to show in our interview..the only Bank in my Married name is in Bank of America cause that's where my voided check for my payroll goes and a Credit Card of Bank of America in my married name..what do you think kabayan?

Yes, we do have our joint account under my married name already and it is at Wells Fargo. Yes, I think that will be alright just bring the agreement that you guys received on both banks (Chase and Bank of America) stating both of your names on it and then you can also print online your bank statements as well and you're all set don't worry everything will be fine, just do the Q and A portion thing that I suggest with your husband rgdg your relationship since how did you meet and all and the dates as well and you're all set Keep us updated kabayan

I'm kinda happy I don't have to deal with this name change stuff, less confusion for me but good luck to those who do. I had a GA license when I lived here after college, so I was thinking I could just get it renewed but I see that according to the DMV website, if your license has been expired for two years or more you have to retake the test. :/ guess I'll be retaking the test. Can't believe after driving for so so many years I'm like a teenager again having to take a driving test LOL

So,I need to go to SSA office first then! I was wondering if I should go to DMV first.

Do you think I can go to SSA right away?its been 11days since my EAD was approved. The card was delivered on June 19th though. I heard I have to wait for 2weeks so that SSA can verify my EAD info. Please correct me if I am wrong ! Thank you!!!

Hi,

I think you can go tomorrow at SSA office already to update your status since you got approved last June 7th. I believe the counting of days would be from the date the card was approved. Correct me if I'm wrong but this is how I counted it when I went to update my SSN and there's no problem

Same here... after they received the RFE it said expect a decision until July 18, but the date disappeared a while ago...

RFE too they said will receive a decission June 14 .

June 15 I called them and ask what happen why the date was gone they just said wait for 30 days and gave me a request no.

But then June 15 in the afternoon I received a notice of potential waiver letter dated "june 11,2015"

So i'm thinking maybe that's why they took off the date because they sent me the letter already .. just wait for a few days maybe that's what happened to you too

That's not what happened to me.

SSN card I received now still have restrictions even if I went there with EAD card to update my name .

I am on day 84 and still nothing about my EAD. My service request was "completed," which I never even placed, the tier 2 officer just did, and my expedite is about to be a MONTH old. Like, seriously?

I head back from the Ombudsman office and they are forwarding my inquire to the officer working on my case and will get back to me when they review it. Knowing them, 2 weeks?

I am looking about being a month out of work, and that is if I even have a job to come back to. I am sorry to be all negative but I genuinely feel so lost in this process.

Ombudsman took 7 days to get back to me when they did my EAD was approve. i would advice anyone, to do a case inquiry about a approval notice u never recieved on day 55, since it takes 20 days to be completed by the assigned officer. So someone will always be handling your case
