Don't worry Bandaria, I did my biometrics on April 12, and my status never changed. It changes only in case of RFE, EAD/AP approval or in case you are getting an interview. Most of AOS fillers will get Notice Of Potential Interview Waiver Case, which means they will not have an Interview, but will receive their green card, but much later than those that will have interview.

Don't worry, and good luck!

What does this mean, I have never seen it before..This is the message I get when I check my case status online:

Validation Error(s)

You must correct the following error(s) before proceeding:

At this time USCIS cannot provide you with information for your case. Please contact the NCSC 1 (800) 375-5283 for additional information.

That message will show if you tried to enter a wrong MSC #.. Try to enter your case number correctly..Good luck.

Thank you! It's nice to have a place like this :)

Okay now I'm slightly concerned. My status has still not changed at all!

Is it normal for some people to never have their status updated after the initial reception of documents?

Welcome to our thread.

Of course it is normal. I had biometrics on March 31st, and nothing changed since then. Only a few people get lucky and have an interview scheduled so early. It solely depends on how badly your local USCIS office is backlogged. Expect long months to wait, AOS is not a fast process. As for the EAD/AP combo card, expect to have it approved 70-90 days from filing.

Since you are also adjusting from a K1 visa, there is a chance that you won't have an interview at all. In that case, USCIS sends an Interview Waiver letter usually 4-5 months from filing but you won't have your greencard in hand for at least another 6 months. USCIS selects interview waiver cases randomly.

Long story short, those are the lucky ones that have an interview because they can be done with AOS in 3-5 months from filing. If you end up being one of those that will receive an Interview Waiver letter, the whole process is 10-12 months.

Good luck!

Ah, okay. Thank you both so much, it's good to know that this is all normal.

But wow, I had no idea that an interview waiver ADDS time! I had assumed that it would speed things along.

Oh well, not much to do but wait and hope to see that interview notice!

You are welcome. Oh yeah, the Interview Waiver is basically a punishment for those who end up receiving it.

Most of AOS fillers will get Notice Of Potential Interview Waiver Case, which means they will not have an Interview, but will receive their green card, but much later than those that will have interview.

This is not exactly true. Only those adjusting from Family-Based Visas (a.k.a. K-Visas) can have their interview waived. Any other visa adjusters (those who adjust for example from Student, Work, Tourist Visas and VWP) are required to have AOS interview, it is a mandatory.

There is always a chance for interview on K-1, no matter how strong your application is. It appears to be random. Some think that it is because USCIS needs a certain amount of interviews per office or some other form of interview quota. Also, K-1 AOS interviews tend to be more of a formality than an actual interview. K-1 relationships already went through scrunity and were proven to be bonafide at the US Embassy interview in our home countries.

Thank you for correcting me. I saw that Bandaria was adjusting from K1, so I didn't write all the details. :)

Mine hasn't changed either since March 19, I had my biometrics done on April 10, I have this feeling I will be on the waiver situation, and I though I wanted it, but honestly I just want this over, so I can relax and worry again in 2 years for the removal.

Now, if you ask why I wanted the waiver so my case can be on hold for a year or so, well, I didn't fill as soon as we got married, we filled after our first anniversary, so in my mind if there are cases from June 2014 that are finally being resolved after being on the waiver, I could probably have the gc after our second anniversary meaning no conditions, but like I said I'm done with the waiting.

I remember being so frustrated waiting for the k1 status to move, and here we are again.

So I will continue praying that this part of the process is done.

Good luck to everybody :)

Agree :) I'm really hoping for work permit to come soon too . Anyway, having an upcoming interview is also stressful coz you have to prepare everything for evidence ,it's like preparing for a Board exam physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually or something haha :)

By the way, I would like to share a sample hard copy I got today from my upcoming interview. You might find this helpful March 2015 AOS filers :bonk: These are the instructions. God Bless to all of us :dancing:

Thank you for sharing. I wish you the best of luck at your interview. :)
