There's a 50/50 chance if you go searching for love in an undeveloped county full of beautiful woman that's willing to do anything for a better life for them, and their family-- you'll end up broke, heart broken, and on the edge of a cliff wondering what the hell was i thinking.

just about anything is 50/50 hahaaa yes or no. true.false. heads or tails. it is not that hard to win on 50/50

As Dr. Phil says, "no matter how flat you make a pancake, 'it has two sides'"..,.,. I would love to hear "his" side!

What is being said by the OP, may be spot on true, but, there is a chance "it is her side of the story."

If this is happening, there may be a reason. This man may have reason.

If he is mistreating her as it is written here, and as badly as stated, I really feel bad for her, and wish her "relief" in some way!

I have read many stories, of Filipino women getting their GC, and then .,.,. up and gone! My wife is Filipino, we file for RoC in October.,,.,,but everything is fine with us, or so it seems, and hope it stays that way, Filipinos make great wives, but you must treat as you want to be treated!

Pretty clear from the first post that the focus is her GC and getting his money.

LOL, I know damn well it doesn't cost $380 to renew license. Nothing is expensive in the Philippines.... lol

The $380, which I correct myself, it's $385 for the services of CGFNS.

All I said in previous post was:

"My wife's nursing license is expired in the Philippines. Should she get that renewed before she processes her paperwork through CGFNS or does it really matter if it's expired or not? She doesn't want to pay the $380 yet if it's going to be delayed due to her license being expired... Any advice would greatly be appreciated! Thnx"

I NEVER said that's what her license cost to renew. She didn't want to pay the $380 (actual $385) to start the process with CGFNS. I pretty much thought it was obvious what I was talking about so I didn't think I had to clarify what the $380 was for. I'm sorry I didn't find an even more simiplier way of explaining it and I don't see how my wife's friend has anything to do with getting money out of me. Nothing was ever stated about needing or wanting money. I think your getting off topic a little bit. The topic is regarding her friend in Florida, not her or her becoming a nurse. That has been figured out already and in process, thank you!

actually if you already paid 380$ and sent your application at CGFNS..they will just wait papers from the school and from the prc. The CGFNS will wait for those three papers. ..your application form, papers from school and papers from PRC. If your wife need to renew her license that will not make any mess and that will not make a reason to pay again for 380$ once you are paid at CGFNS they will just wait for all the papers. I think they are giving one year to receive all the documents once you paid. Your wife should know that. go to cgfns website.

Pretty clear from the first post that the focus is her GC and getting his money.

Definitely on getting the green card, she knew, given the prenup, she wouldn't get his money.

Since she won't leave and go home, it's obvious she's here for only one reason - she even said she'd leave as soon as she got the green card. That's an explicit admission that the relationship is fraudulent on her part.

Too be honest- i kind of stretched the probability a lot. It's more like trying to roll snake eyes on the first try. Not to say no one has rolled a set of snake eyes I'm just saying you shouldn't bet on it. As an Asian American, i witnessed a hand full of cases where love is on one side and on the other is just a dream of coming to America. And I know its blunt to say it but its a common problem in Asia where dignity gets cashed in for a ticket to the land of opportunity.

I agree with you. That there are a lot of people from other countries who just want the green card. That is why I think a couple should get to know each other more then just a couple of months and meet more then once time, before they file for visa. It will not prevent all the fraud, but like any type of gamble, you look for ways to beat the odds

The divorce rate between American citizens is much higher.

The Commission on Filipinos Overseas has produced reports with divorce rate estimates. There is one pretty widely quoted in various publications like the center for immigration studies here: http://cis.org/MailOrderBrides

It is a bit dated at 1997 but it is quoting an 80% success rate. These marriages are almost twice as likely to last as are marriages between Americans. This stupid meme about high divorce rates is merely a bigoted attack on a minority. Facts don't matter to bigots and the sad thing is seeing international marriage partners picking up the meme so that they can feel like they "fit in" with the popular opinion despite being so wrong.

But the myth about economics being the reason for marriage and all these poor Filipinas suffering with someone they don't love is even better. From the article:

However, when the women themselves are asked this question, the answer generally indicates an attraction to American men (they look like movie stars) and an aversion to native men. Americans, they say, "make good husbands" while Filipino (Thai / Indonesian / Russian / etc.) men do not. Americans are thought to be faithful and kind to their wives, while the native men are cruel and run around with other women. True or not, this is the perception.

You will NEVER hear Americans saying that Filipinos think American men look like movie stars. You will NEVER hear them saying Filipinas, Russians, etc. think they make better husbands. Bigots are not interested in asking the opinions of the minority groups they are attacking. Sure, economics matters just as it does for American women. But if you treat the women as human beings and respect their opinions then romantic love is higher than for domestic marriages.

The feminists in the USA have been highly successful at promoting misandry against American men, so it is not politically correct to quote international women saying they make better husbands. Here again it is sad that Filipinas are right here on this forum repeating the PC meme about green cards or money when this is the exception, not the rule.

Our job here is to provide accurate information, not repeat popular bigoted memes. It would be much more accurate to be advising people that their odds of a successful marriage are not only much higher, but that their chances of a real Romeo and Juliet experience is higher too.

On the reverse side I know a few married guys who venture to Philippines and tell the girls they are single and have the fun for about 3 weeks and date many.

So the role reverses, and the USC gets what he wants, while the girls give away their dignity..

She said she wants to wait til she gets her green card and then leave him.

The quote above, plus the fact that she's a mid-30's woman with a guy twice her age. Sounds like true love to me.

The guy can probably see that he's being played and wants to prevent the inevitable.

The green card marriage game they're playing is fascinating to watch as a third party.

Will the woman be able to get her green card then dump the guy? Will the guy prevent her from achieving her ultimate goals?

Will the woman be able to get her green card then dump the guy? Will the guy prevent her from achieving her ultimate goals?

or

Did he find a younger wife to support him for the rest of his life? Will she be able to achieve any personal goal at all?

One of them may be giving to that GC a higher value than it really has.
