If interview is in April than 2014 taxes are due new I-864 is required if it wasn't done at NVC.

1. so you will need Tax transcripts or forms for year 2014.

2. Updated I-864 or I-864ez with 2014, 2013 and 2012 information

3. bring most recent paystub for 2015 salary

4. Employer letter (optional) if you didn't at NVC

But, the taxes aren't filed until April 15. My interview is on 9th April. How to bring Tax Transcripts of year 2014 and new I-864?

Good morning ,

IR1 Visa
US Jerusalem embassy ..Palestine
My interview was at Feb 23 , 2015 on Monday, I went to the consulate early and arrived at nine o'clock in the morning .. there were no queues in consulate , It seemed that I'm number one who arrived the consulate. After I finished the security measures and inspection .. I sat in the hall for a period of not more than two minutes..after two minutes of waiting .. I heard my name and I went to the co-employee window . He reviewed my papers and documents and prepared me to meet the consular . He said that my documents are ok but the affidavit of support may not be accepted , but the final decision is between the hands of consular. and he told me to sit down a little and that I gonna hear my name again to meet the consular ..After a minute I heard my name. It was window number 17 . the Consular was handsome man at the age of nearly 40 years .This is the interview .

Consular : (smile ) Good morning
Me : Good morning
Consular : How are you ?
Me : I'm fine , Thank you
Consular : Do you speak English ?
Me : Yes , I do
Consular : OK , that's good
Me : simple smile
Consular : Who is ( my wife name ) ?
Me : She is my wife
Consular : Where is she ?
Me : she is in america , California , San Diego .
Consular : Does she have brothers there ?
Me : yes .
Consular : ok , good , good
consular : would you raise your hand please ?
Me : ok
consular : Do you swear that everything in the papers is true ? Yes or no
Me : Yes

then the consular takes my fingerprints , he didn't ask me for emails , photos , letters . and he said thank you . At that moment , I was wondering about Affidavit of support and what if it was accepted or what , and the miracle was when the consular told me that the affidavit of support is ok :dancing: . I was surprised that everything is ok and then the consular said , please sit down and the co-employee will told you what to do next . after 3 minutes . i heard my name again ,and the co-employee told me that i have to get a clearance from an Israeli center ( i'm Palestinian ) near the consulate , and he gave me the address and i got it . the employee told me that it takes from 1 week to 3 weeks to get the visa . I asked the co-employee if my case would be under AP , he said " I don't think so " . Today is a week after my interview day .

This is all what happened to me at consulate (L)
wish you all success

Hey DWheels76 - BTW you do a fabulous job of moderating, I never said it before, but have always thought it. :)

I have a similar situation. My husbands interview is before the April 15th deadline and I am planning on doing an extension because I need an ITIN for him.

The rules on ITIN have changed so much that at this point in our visa process it's hard to start the ITIN process simultaneously. New rules say he needs to apply for the number himself and submit his original passport. We really don't want to do that because, God willing, he will need his passport for the interview and visa stamp.

Do you think proof of filing an extension should be ok? Should I also get an updated employment letter and pay stubs for current salary info? Sorry this is my first time hearing that we need updated salary info. I thought that he only needed the Employment letter and stubs that we submitted to NVC. But now that I think about it, since we won't have a 2014 Tax return we should give them an update. hmmm.

Your advice is truly appreciate :)

Can you do filing MFS (married filing separately) and later amending it to MFJ (Married filing jointly) within 3 years of last filing using 1040X after your spouse arrives and get his new SSN? That way you can use "NRA" on spouse's SSN on MFS paper because I know it is hard to use ITIN. In fact, I had hard times obtaining an ITIN for my spouse since they didn't accept my spouse's certified copy of my spouse's passport. So I went for MFS using amended return called 1040x and I got the IRS approval letter that they've updated from single (it was an error) to MFS and got full transcript. Based on my tax advisor (professional CPA) and IRS, I can amend it to MFJ when my spouse arrives here and get a new SSN. I think it would be easier.

I am not sure if it is good idea to file an extension. Wait for others to respond about this.

I think you should get an updated employment letter and paystubs because you never know what US embassy/consulate would ask.

Now doing an extension no problem you can file that and have that with your I-864 just have your 2014 W2 no problem.

I would not be filing a ITIN when his arrival is forthcoming thats a waste of time. He will have a SS before a ITIN. it can takes months to get all that done. Just file the extension and once he is here then you can get all your previous years since you married and amend your taxes ( i know someone just did it husband just got here she amended the last 4 years got s good cash payday).

You can go to TurboTax and file extension For free print the extension paper and have that with your new updated I-864 and have that for interview. (have W2 with all this at interview and most recent Pay stub also).

I send already the 2013,2012,2011 tax information with aos paper to nvc

Im sure in the interview date they gonna ask for 2014 tax , i do my 2014 tax and im out of the state waiting with my wife at home country since june2014 till now .

I can bring the 1040 and w2 for 2014 but i only make $ 6500 coz i just work til may then left on may 29 to my home country to be with my wife , on june 27 she give a baby and this is our first baby girl, so i cant leave here and i stay with here til now , when i see my baby i cant back to state and leave here lol?

Ok now i just think about the interview if they gona ask about 2014 tax with only $ 6500 on it?

do i need to bring w2 and 1040 for our sponsor (i have a joint sponsor with me (the petitioner) and he make $ 65.000 a year

I want to attend with my wife to the interview. What i have to bring ? W2 ,1040 ? Only for me or need the sponsor w2 and 1040 ??

If you made any changes yes you have to update the I-864 and have that original at the interview. So filing an extension is an update. So you would be updating the AOS form yes.

:goofy: :goofy: A note to people fixated on April 15th filing date. Depending on your embassy and the mood of your CO they can put you in AP and request you submit 2014 taxes.

April 15th is IRS tax filing day not Immigration filing day. Just like with NVC in about 2 weeks 2014 filings will be requested since the new poverty guidelines will be coming out next week. Just giving everyone a heads up. Be prepared just in case

They might ask they might not ask. Usually they tend to lean more on those who are borderline on the guideline. All I am saying is just be prepared. (L)

Hi please can you advice me in this situation,

My wife interview on april 26 2015

I know my english is so so but im sure you understand me

Thank you

Yes get all your petitioner package together. They need to fill out a I-864 they need to have most current tax return just have them do 2014. Most recent pay stub, letter of employment.

You also need to update you I-864 with 2014, 2013, 2012. Your W2 and 1040 you filed is fine.

Congratulations on the New citizens., Be sure to get the CRBA and US passport and all that done. Remember Sponsor only adds your wife to the household size not the baby.
