So I called nvc yesterday since it will be 60 days for me today, I have noticed that a lot of people who had their scan date on January 14 or 15 or even 20 have gotten cc or at least a respond. The representative that I spoke was very rude, she was just reading what I have received from them when they sent me the scan date email. I was super polite to her. I told her " ma'am I already know that I want to know if there is anything new, lots of people have already received cc on their cases" and he respond was "I cannot discuss with you other people's cases" I told her I don't want you to, I just want to know i can get any update on my case and the stupid representative keeps telling me allow 60 days to review your case. I mean I don't get it was she stupid or just being a with me. I am worried and sick of waiting . Hopefully I get something without checklists I really miss my parents, I'm petitioning for both of them on my own. I hope everyone who is waiting gets cc soon, and for those who got it Congrats so happy for yall.

I'm on the same boat, I called NVC on Friday, and the gentleman read the 60-day email to me and he told me that visajourney is "waaaaay inaccurate".

I'll keep calling them everyday and Monday I'll ask to talk to a supervisor.

Hopefully we'll all get CC's early next week, and you'll be reunited with your parents. Keep us posted, good luck!

I know someone who married in November 2014.

Because his wife doesn't have a SSN, he can't file "married", so should he file "single" for the purposes of the I-864 and then amend his returns later? Is that the proper procedure?

He is married officially so he cannot file "single". He should file "married filing separately" or "married filing jointly"

If his wife doesn't have a SSN, he can use "married filing separately" and put "NRA" on his spouse's SSN field -- he will have to file paperwork manually (not electronically) if tax software won't let him put "NRA". Then within 3 months of last filing, he can amend his filing to married filing jointly after his wife arrives in the U.S. and get her new ssn.

If he want to use married filing jointly, he must apply using W-7 form to obtain an ITIN (similar to SSN) for his wife, but it would be diffciult to obtain ITIN because original passport or certified copies of her passport is required. Some people said certified copies are not accepted and IRS want to see an original passport. If you apply using W-7 form, it will take up to 8 weeks to get an ITIN. He can file MFJ and W-7 form together and it still will take up to 8 weeks to get an ITIN.

Yep, This is the best way to file.

My husband filed for 2014 as 'married filling separately', and put 'NRA' for spouse SSN field. We did this using an Agent. and the agent asked to give my passport copy to do this.

how long does it take to get checklist email from nvc? because rep told me to wait email.

and one more question is it possible to ask supervisor to check my case again and somehow to find my marriage certificate and check my aos again.

thanks

so sorry to hear that u got a checklist from NVC. Don't worry. We all are here to help you and to get your Case complete.

What is the checklist for? If the checklist is just for missing marriage certificate and you are positive that you sent the marriage certificate, then ask for supervisor review...Also, send the marriage certificate while you wait for the supervisor review so that you don't lose time while waiting.

He should have filed as Married Filing Separately OR Married Filing Jointly (with ITIN number) if his wife doesn't have SSN...Please read the following and look under the section 'Tax Information'

Quick question about when to send documents to NVC: We paid the AOS fee nearly two weeks ago but are still waiting for the IV fee to be invoiced (NVC says it can take up to 42 days or something). So we haven't completed DS-260 (IV application). Can we send in all the supporting documentation, including civil documents, now?

Saylin's wiki seems to suggest we wait till both fees are paid and send in both AOS and IV documents in the same package but an NVC rep told me when I called that we could start sending the documentation now.

Totally confused...

You can go ahead and send in both the AOS and IV documents. Use the AOS barcode sheet for both packages if you separate them. I would recommend calling to see if they'll review the DS-261 over the phone as that will trigger the IV invoice. They seem to have slowed down on doing this for people, but I still think it's worth a shot. But yes, send them in now while you wait for the IV fee and DS-260, so you're not wasting time waiting around on them more than you have to.

Thanks. I did ask for a DS-261 review but was turned down. Might try again. So is the bar code sheet the same for the AOS and IV?

Sorry about that. I'd say it's worth a shot to try again though.

And yeah, the AOS and IV barcode, as well as the barcode on the Document Cover Sheet that NVC sends you should all be the same. It's just a way to scan it into their system and bring up your case.
