I just called so there definitely won't be an update in the morning. Best case, there'll be a case complete tomorrow evening or next week--the lady I just talked to very flippantly informed me that they were totally saturated and I said that I knew and that people with scan dates several days after mine already HAD case complete. Her response was a very sarcastic 'then you know we're saturated. Don't call until next week.'

I just have the worst feeling.

This whole thing is so overwhelming! Well i wont lose hope until you hear something . Tomorrow and next week will come so fast and the news will finally come

At this point, I'm pretty much convinced that we're going to get a checklist. People with our scan date have been getting case complete for three days now and we've got nothing. Our first wedding anniversary is tomorrow and I'm pretty much positive that we're getting a checklist as a present.

If it makes you feel any better our checklist came a little early, while our CC came several days late and well after a few others with later scan dates.

That's not much in the way of evidence, but it does suggest that being "out of order" with others around your scan date doesn't necessarily indicate failure or success.

Good luck!

I-130 mailed: 03/10/14 (from France to Chicago Lockbox)

I-130 received: 03/12/14 (this is also our priority date)

New i864 mailed: 12/14/14

Third N/A: 3/2/15
NVC case
complete: 3/2/15 (confirmed on call to NVC 3/4/15; email received 3/9/15)
Interview date: 4/1/15 (assigned 3/11/15)
APPROVED!!! CEAC status changed to "Issued" on 4/2/15.
Visa and POE
papers in-hand: 4/12/15
POE: 4/16/15 in Minneapolis. Kept my wife and our three-Y.O. waiting in a windowless room with no toilet access for over an hour, then let them through without asking any questions.
But whatever: it's over!!!!! 13 months and 3 days from original priority date.

Now it's really over. Thank you so much to all of you at VJ who helped us through this ordeal.

"You recently sent us an email with attached files. One or more of those files was encrypted or password protected. Please resend your documents and make sure that none of them has encryption or password protection so that we can complete our review."

.....

They will be the IRS transcripts. I had to print those out and then scan each one and save as word doc or jpeg. Open the file in Adobe as PDF files and the encryption should be gone. Exact same email I got. Good thing was it didn't affect my scan date, not back then anyway. Let me know how you make out.

I answered your PM :)

I found that a few of the PDF's hubby sent me - including his IRS transcripts - said [secured] in the file name when I opened them. From reading of other's problems I made sure to print those and re-scan them....

Best wishes and keep my fingers crossed that they keep the original scan date :)

were having some serious problems here and really need some computer expertise here.

hubby and i sent in our documents via email feb 15. today we got the dreaded .... :ranting::ranting::ranting:

"You recently sent us an email with attached files. One or more of those files was encrypted or password protected. Please resend your documents and make sure that none of them has encryption or password protection so that we can complete our review."

he sent 4 emails that day and I sent one, each from our own email addressed. how are we to figure out which is encrypted or password protected?

not knowing which they were referring to, we began to review all the emails we sent.

when i look at what he sent (he bc'd me) there are some pdf attachments that show the exact file (eg letter from employer) yet others appear blank. when i download each file individually I get the same results. some show the exact file, others are just blanks. YET, when I chose download all, and proceed to open that compressed file, each attachment is there and appears in true form, just like it did when we scanned and made it a pdf.

my husband and I are both using adobe XI. we have been tackling this all day. the only way we can see and download each attachment (via sending each other copies of the pdf files and opening them up each on our own computers) in true form is using adobe IV.

we know its not about password protected because we check that out and it appears fine.

what are we doing wrong? this can't be what others are experiencing, can it? someone with tech skills we welcome your help!!!

Did you send compressed file to them (aka zip?) Are u using sign certificate in your email?

not using compressed files (no zips or unzips). not sure what you mean by sign certificate, please elaborate.

I answered your PM :)

thanks chickie, not password protected, we checked that.

we guess the ultimate question is...how does NVC download documents....do they 'download al'l within the email OR do they download individually?

this is where our problem lays. if downloaded via each icon, then were doomed. individual icons aren;t downloading the file properly. BUT, if downloaded by "download all" icon "arrow down" feature then we are saved, as all download properly.

we don't get it.

we have explored options and found that adobe IV will download everything properly, thus we have chosen to resend all 4 emails and attachments this way. (secretly, i wish my hubby's AOS files weren't so complicated), but they are what they are....

fingers crossed that we are still in the 60 day cue.

love you all and thanks for your help

Waaaaiting on hold. A bunch of people from 1/12 to 1/15 have CC and I want to know if I have mine, but sadly after waiting 40 minutes I learned a relevant thing--they're having a problem where when the Customer Service Rep picks up the phone, it drops the call. If the music suddenly disappears and no one speaks in thirty seconds, hang up and call back and try again.

noooooooooooooooo, don't tell me that.... totally depressing. I hate it when that happens and you have to start over!!!!

did i tell you i sell rope for a living???? do you need some????

not the case here. but thanks for trying. i hear your prayers, much appreciated (L)

I have a question about the NVC process - I received the NVC packet last week (welcome letter, invoice for AOS, checklist), so I went online and filled out DS-261.

Unfortunately, the system isn't letting me pay the bill. On the Department of State website, it says to wait 15 days before proceeding to the next step (pay fees).

Do I have to wait 15 days just to pay the AOS fee? I've seen other members' timelines and it seems that they paid right away. I've already sent an email to NVC, but no response yet.

Do you know what date your case number was assigned? Im on the same boat with you. My case number was assigned on feb 20th and still waiting for welcome letter. Got case number by phone but still unable to fill out ds-261 and pay AOS fee.

takes awhile for the aos bill to appear and pay. one has to be patient for this. but once its ready, go ahead and pay. people have called to have it released and this works. call to see if they can unlock it.

good luck. once its unlocked you pay.

then submit all documents.

then wait for iv bill (you cannot unlock this), pay and wait....a full 60+ days (calendar) from date of submission of documents. cc should arrive soon.

good luck.

Yes, it was assigned on March 2 and I received the packet last Saturday. I was able to fill out DS-261 without a problem.

Mrs thb, so how do I know if it's locked? I can see the link that says "Pay now" so I assumed it should be available. Anyway, I guess I'll just try calling if I don't get an answer by email soon.

If you look at the spreadsheet you can see that CCs beat Checklists somewhere between 2:1 to 3:1

The median time for a case to be reviewed is 63 days which means your file should be reviewed on Tuesday (yup next week).

Good luck.

Ariani I like how you're all about statistics now

I think this NVC experience is not bad after all. Thanks NVC for keeping us stuck 60 days in this mess!!! Now we know statistics :lol
