i have a question for the GERMAN immigrants here....which kind of police certificate do i have to get? i didnt even know that there are different kinds. I obtained the normal one without signature or anything. Is it the right one? Or do i have to get a signature? Do i have to certify it? Im confused!!

oh...and another question...maybe a silly one, but i just want to make sure, do i send copies of all original (german) documents AND translations ?

We´ve sent the "Einfaches Führungszeugnis".

I called the Bundesjustizamt and they told me that all other police certificates have to be ordered by either your employer or Frankfurt Consulate themselves, they won´t get handed to you. So you should be fine.

We also send the German documents WITH a certified translation (divorce decree), better safe than sorry.

I ordered international birth certificate that is already in many languages and didn´t need to be translated.

My police certificate was sent in German, not translated.

We´ve got a checklist "just" for AOS, all other documents were accepted as mentioned above and good to go.

I have translations for all of my documents except for the police certificate, cuz i needed them for uscis anyway. I ordered international birth certificate for my daughter but i was born is udssr so i had to translate mine .

may i ask what the checklist was for?

i got approved at uscis almost a half year ago but my daughter just got her approval last month so we're waiting for her case number to be assigned, this is so upsetting :(

We overlooked the little box for the total numbers of immigrating persons :(

Not a big deal but unfortunately a mistake that costs us 60 additional days.

Yes, it is a long journey that proofs that patience is a virtue.

Good luck for you, I´ll keep my fingers crossed.

And who knows? NVC might speed up!

Once you've submitted everything to NVC do you still need to call and check on your case?. Do I just wait until the end of my 60 to hear from them?

Aww, thats really unfortunate!

it's mostly silly mistakes we make when we concentrate too much, to get everything right!

long journey indeed! its been a year now. i try to tell myself that there is always a reason why things happen when they happen, but it doesn't always work lol

We are now 17/60 so there is a little progress...

Thanks, I updated the link!

Hi there! My husband filed I-130 for me. How long does it takes to approve the petition?? Thank you guys.

This thread is for those with approved I-130 petitions. Your timeline isn't filled out, so not sure when your I-130 petition was filed, but the February group can be found here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/535973-february-2015-ir-1-cr-1-filers/I'd suggest joining it (if the petition was actually filed in February, if not find the appropriate month) and you can keep others in the group informed of your progress and you can also be informed of others progress to know when others start getting their petitions adjudicated.

Definitely call close to the end of your 60 days. I only called a couple of times during the whole process. Some people call all the time, but it can be expensive. I chose to let the process happen and only called when I figured my case was close to being complete. It's totally up to you, but from what I am seeing, you should call if you have any question regarding the movement of your case (scan dates, or if you receive a checklist). I myself never put much stock in calling them every day because, especially now that they seem a lot busier, there really isn't much point unless you think there may be a problem with your case. Good luck in your journey! :)

How proactive you want to be is entirely up to you. You could call to see if they received your documents and given you a scan date, or wait for the email. Once it gets close or after 60 days, you can keep calling to see what dates they're processing or just keep checking the payment portal online for the 3 N/As. Most people like to know exactly when things happen with their case, but if you're cool with just waiting it out, more power to ya.

Hi iri,

so you´re immigrating with your child as well? I´m in the same boat as you are, and so far i couldn´t find any other member from Germany being in the same situation. I have my son immigrating with me and we have been at the NVC stage for almost ever. It´s the 8th month already :clock: Our petitions got approved at the same time at USCIS, but NVC lost his AOS package when we first sent it. Unfortunately they didn´t mention it correctly in the checklist we got for his case. They only said that they would miss the AOS form, which lead me to only mail in the form itself, ugghh. So after 60 days we got a second checklist, that they need a written statement, why my husband didn´t file taxes for 2013 and that the return is missing :wow: . Obviously there was a 2013 tax return since we sent one with my AOS and i got my Case complete already, but now we gotta wait again 60 days. I thought the cases would be linked and they could see, if docs were already sent :bonk: I do think they want to give us an interview at the same date, so i have to wait til my son´s case is gonna be complete :ranting: I tell you, this is soooo very frustrating and i really do hope and wish for y'all, that you´re gonna be through this stage real quick.

May i ask you how old your daughter is?

Best of luck! :goofy:

hey!

yes, im immigrating with my daughter, she is 14 years old. we had our problems at uscis, like i said i was approved half year befor she was. that was very frustrating for me cuz i couldnt even be happy about my approval, i was worried out of my mind. but finally her case arrived at nvc last week, my husband called them right away but they said to wait for 42!! days just for the case number to be assigned, this is driving me crazy.

do i understand right, u sent 2 aos? i thought one would be enough?! but u pay only one time, right?

im gathering all the documents for the packages, did u send ur "führungszeugniss" without a translation too?

im in the process of selling my house right now and i have ppl who are willing to buy it, but im not able to tell them any timeframe, its frustrating. in the whole process i got so stressed out that i literally got sick and have to see so many doctors now. i wish i knew how to take it easy but i feel like its been too long and the feeling of being helpless is just making me sick. hopefully it will change at nvc, cuz here i can atleast participate to a certain degree.

Yeah, we only paid AOS once, but every intending immigrant needs their own AOS file. I had my "Führungszeugnis" translated and i already got a new one since they are only valid for 6 months.

Well, i had our case# i guess after 3 weeks but it´s taking a lot longer these days. Telling a time frame is really hard, i was originally going for April. Now it seems to be more July/August, which i´, hoping for, cause in September my son would have his first day of school.

Sorry that you got sick cause of all the stress and hopefully everything will be processing alot smoother for you at NVC.
