Congrats on everyone getting their NOA2s! I've been keeping up to date with everyone on here!

Does anyone know what the hell you're supposed to do once you get a case number at the NVC??? I cannot find any help anywhere and I feel stuck at the moment.

You can go ahead and schedule medicals and complete DS160.

Hi all,

Just sharing my experience in case it helps anyone else....

Filed Jan 28

RFE And finally an approval Aug 12th. TSC didn't mail off my stuff for 2 weeks! (Aug 25). NVC received and assigned my case number on Sept 1st (yes I called everyday but they only took a week). The next morning, we immediately filled out our DS 160 online and paid our visa fee (both of which were needed to book the appointment). All of this to discover the earliest appointment was December 18th, the Friday before Christmas. On August 31 the first available appointment was Dec 4. It jumped 2 weeks in 2 days! Now I'm thankful to have a date but nervous to book a Christmas Eve plane ticket so he could be here on Christmas (which would be awesomesauce) but that's a whole other issue.

So after 217 since we started this, there is still at least 105 to go. So happy to have a place where people understand. It's hard. But my advice...

Investigate your consulate now. Don't wait for NVC to mail your package to consulate and receive the paperwork etc. Much of it is online. You could be adding unnecessary days to your wait. If you're waiting on TSC, you can still be getting other parts organized. Don't be shy to contact the consulate directly or medical offices for the exam etc. streamline your process. In my case, the Nigerian information on their website is wrong about several things (including paying the visa fee in advance and not in person on day of interview) which resulted in frantic confusion. Go straight to the source. Use your waiting time (the hundreds of days) as prep time.

Praying for all of those waiting! Remember that a lifetime together is worth it.

Feeling *HELPLESS*

My NOA1 date is 2/23/2015. It is now 9/9/2015 and still not updates. I see cases from before and after my date being processed and nothing is happening to mine.

I'm starting to freak out. Is anyone else in this boat or am I the last February filer?

What are thoughts on why mine is taking longer? No criminal history, but my immigration case is rather complicated:

- lived in the states my entire life

- took them 20 years to process my dads citizenship

- I have a pending 485 through him

- I've grown up and am getting married

- Left the country last year due to family emergency and decided to go the 129F route since I was already engaged to a USC

Don't know if any of that even matters, or if they just look at the packet and evidence of relationship.

Either way, I am growing desperate. I just want to go home.

Advice welcome.

This might not make you feel better, but we waited 10 months for NOA2 for no apparent reason (NOA1 OCT 17, NOA2 AUG 17). Waiting longer than others might not have anything to do or with your history. It may, but also it might not.

I am guessing that you arent out of regular processing yet, so there is a limit to what you can do, but has your fiance tried getting senator/ congressperson involved? If not, you can research here on VJ how to best go about it. It is definitely worth a shot. Your fiance can call USCIS, ask to talk to a Tier 2 person, and ask to put in an inquiry. They might nor might not do it, since you are still within regular processing and what *exactly* those inquiries do is anybody´s guess, but again, it gives you (actually your USC fiance) something to try and do and it cant hurt.

I guess what I am trying to say is, dont freak out just yet! The system is anything but transparent and def not fair, but you are still under 7 months, and while this is a *really* long time and I understand your frustration at watching those who filed after you get approved before, it is also not totally out of the ordinary.

I wish you all the best and hope you get good news soon!

All of that probably does matter, I'm sorry to say. Not that it's anything bad or a red flag at all. Just think about how many different databases your name/ social security number/ whatever is in if you've been in the US that long, have another pending file and have probably come and gone from the country quite a bit (and now have abandoned one process)?

I've noticed, mostly anecdotaly and with some notable exceptions (read: I very well may be full of it) that the foreign nationals who have never been to the US seem to get through a week or two faster on average than the foreign nationals who HAVE been to the US. That there is one database that USCIS will need to check, or request for information they will need to send, or whatever it is they do to find out from CBP or FBI or god knows who about your travels to the US. I'd imagine that having a longer established presence here and a pending AOS would just be more places to check.

None of this is an indication that you'll be denied. Just maybe that they're waiting on some other sluggish government agency to get back to their questions.

Hang in there, it won't be much longer now.

Marriage/ AOS Timeline:

23 Dec 2015: Legal marriage

23 Jan 2016: Wedding!

23 Jan 2016: "Blizzard of the Century", wedding canceled/rescheduled (thank goodness we were legally married first or we'd have had a big problem!) :sleepy:

24 Jan 2016: Small "civil ceremony" with friends and family who were snowed in with us. December was a bit of a secret and people had traveled internationally and knew we *had* to get married that weekend, and our December legal marriage was nothing but signing a piece of paper at our priest's kitchen table, without any sort of vows etc so this was actually a very special (if not legally significant) day. (L)

16 Apr 2016: Filed for AOS and EAD/AP (We delayed a bit-- no big rush, enjoying the USCIS break)

23 Apr 2016: Wedding! Finally! :luv:

27 Apr 2016: Electronic NOA1 for all 3 :dancing:
29 Apr 2016: NOA1 Hardcopy for all 3
29 Jul 2016: Online service request for late EAD (Day 104)
29 Jul 2016: EAD/AP Approved ~3 hours after online service request
04 Aug 2016: RFE for Green Card (requested medicals/ vaccination record. They already have it). :ranting:
05 Aug 2016: EAD/AP Combo Card arrived! (Day 111)
08 Aug 2016: Congressional constituent request to get guidance on the RFE. Hoping they see they have the form and approve!

K-1 Visa Timeline:

PLEASE NOTE. This timeline was during the period of time when TSC was working on I-129fs and had a huge backlog. The average processing time was 210+ days. This is in no way predictive of your own timeline if you filed during or after April 2015, unless CSC develops a backlog. A backlog is anything above the 5-month goal time listed on USCIS's site

14 Feb 2015: Mailed I-129f to Dallas Lockbox. (L) (Most expensive Valentine's card I've ever sent!)

17 Feb 2015: NOA1 "Received Date"
19 Feb 2015: NOA1 Notice Date
08 Aug 2015: NOA2 email! :luv: (173 days from NOA1)

17 Aug 2015: Sent to NVC

?? Aug 2015: Arrived at NVC

25 Aug 2015: NVC Case # Assigned

31 Aug 2015: Left NVC for Consulate in San Jose

09 Sep 2015: Consulate received :dancing: (32 days from NOA2)

11 Sep 2015: Packet 3 emailed from embassy to me, the petitioner (34 days from NOA2).

18 Sep 2015: Medicals complete

21 Sep 2015: Packet 3 complete, my boss puts a temporary moratorium on all time off due to work emergency :clock:

02 Oct 2015: Work emergency clears up, interview scheduled (soonest available was 5 business days away--Columbus Day was in there)

13 Oct 2015: Interview

13 Oct 2015: VISA APPROVED  (236 days from NOA1)

19 Oct 2015: Visa-in-hand

24 Oct 2015: POE !

15 Dec 2015: Fiance's mother's B-2 visa interview: APPROVED! So happy she will be at the wedding!

!

Thanks both for the replies. I understand it is just a waiting game. Luckily, my 485 was not actually abandoned, as it is child based (J type I believe) so it's still being processes. I did, though, abandon an AP application once I ran out of waiting time to leave. Hopefully that's not a huge deal.

Thanks again. *Goes back to waiting patiently*
