I had the same question.. As far as I know, most people get married after K1, apply for AOS and at the same time apply for work permit (EAD). Now you cant legally work till you get the EAD in hand, but Im going to anyway start applying half way through the 3 month wait time. Getting a job is rarely a quick process, so hopefully by the time I get some interviews, I will have my EAD. If on the off chance, I get a quick offer, I will just be honest and say my work permit will be here in next couple weeks.

That's right, send EAD with AOS after married. You can send EAD before you get married, however, you have to reapply after marriage, so it's probably better to just apply after you're married, lol.

Hey everyone! I don't know why it took me so long to find this website, but i did.. our case was received feb 9th and still nothing.. I's exciting to see feb is already being approved.. but i'm even more anxious now thinking something might be wrong? Is anyone else coming from Ireland?

Can someone who got their NOA2 please advise..

When they accept the NOA2, whats the first thing updated? Is it the online case checker? How long after does the petitioner get email/text?

Thanks

For some reason for our case we haven't received any texts or emails so we assume somehow they lost our sheet that had that information; but I checked the case status on uscis and thats the most important thing (: Once you see the update to 'my case has been approved' they will then send you a letter which you will receive some time after. So, for now I would say focus on checking the case status!

Cheers. And then I just wait in London until the embassy here gets it and send me the package..

One thing to check is make sure you notifications are set to YES on the USCIS website. I think it defaults to NO and you have to change it.

My take on this is, you get the SS Number about 2 weeks after you arrive so that you know you are in the SAFE system. This link to the Social Security says you are legal to work https://secure.ssa.gov/apps10/poms.nsf/lnx/0110211530

Then you get married and apply for AOS and EAD. I have found in my research that if you apply for Advance Parole at the same time they will send you a card for Employment Authorization. It should happen in 90 days from EAD Application otherwise they can issue you a temporary card https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Employment_authorization_document

10/7/2015: Interview at Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City and APPROVED!!!!
10/22/2015 K1 Visa in hand. Son's K2 visa only valid for 6 months (W-T-F-?) Thought good for 1 year. Inquire at consulate and told visa good only as long as the medical which is 6 months K2 VISAS NOT GOOD FOR 1 YEAR AS ADVERTISED ON DOS WEBSITE!

11/2/2015: Not tuned in enough to Social Security not to pick "the first day of the month" to try to get signed up. Read VJ advice, it's spot on, we had a processor who knew K1. We were in the SAVE database in 3 days so it was easy after a 2 hour wait.

In my case, the online tracker was updated. Then an hour later I received an email. I never received my text. And I am signed up for both.

You are correct about the doctor. It seems like there is 1 only. And there is about a month to wait for the interview. Not me, but the beneficiary, is moving to Boston. Yourself?

The police report can be gotten from your local garda, unless they will send you to the main one.

as of yesterday I hit the 6 month mark.. and while I am or was patient - I am getting tired of this waiting BS while other's who went after us are already approved and interviews are complete or will be this month. I know it's the same story and same B**ch fest but the more I wait the more angry I get at the Government. I mean there has got to be a law against this. Something keeping me from someone I want to be with and then leaving it up to a complete and total stranger to say yes or no based on some pages they review.. This whole process blows - and I would love to know hot to make my voice heard about this nonsense.

I will vote for whatever president that can change this BS of a process. Sorry I think I am at the end of my rope because it's over due at this point. I mean this is only the first hurdle for some of us (like me). Cuba always has AP after the interview from 3 months to a year. Waiting 6 months for someone to look at my documents to tell me if I completed a form wrong or something I am going to be LIVID!!

2nd go round

1st K-1 Denied

Subitted Feb 2-6-15

NOA1 - 2-18-15

NOA2 - 8-18-15

And Here we go again -

New K1 submitted - 1-9-16

NOA1 - 1-12-16 (according to USCIS)

Text received 1-15-16

hardcopy - not received yet as of 1-26-16

In the beginning, I had a lot of patience. Even up to the 5 month mark, I was fine and didn't really think about this process.

Now, my patience in this whole mess is completely gone. I've lost all patience.

How great are we supposed to feel when people who filed less than 1 month ago, are already getting approved?

How great are we supposed to feel knowing that we've barely passed the starting line and we have the NVC, medical exam, interview to look forward to.

No one cares about us. We could literally wait 1 year for our NOA2 and no one would care.

When there are no repurcussions, there is no care.

I'm extremely frustrated too guys :) It's sad really.. not fair that they can mess with peoples lives and happiness.. I understand they're busy but there has to be a more sufficient way to get these done faster.. now I am obsessively checking my case status, and making myself more angry and sad.. not good haha - but i have t say it helps having this forum with other people going through the same exact thing to talk to, no one really gets it..
