Hello,

I received my NOA2 (ASC biometric appointment) and I had read in a previous thread that I use the receipt number from the NOA2 and not the NOA1 for tracking purposes. The problem is where to find the number on the NOA form.

The NOA1 is official looking with 'The United States of America' in a banner on the top and receipt number at the top and a line that states 'the above receipt number must accompany all queries'.

The NOA2 says I-797C and has two application numbers on it but no receipt number. The application/request numbers are both listed at the top and then also each separate with a bar code at the bottom.

Can someone help me understand what these mean?

Use the number that came on your biometrics appointment letter. Mine started with WAC. Your bio letter will actually probably have your first number AND this new one. The new one is the one that will work. Have you even tried to check the status using that number yet? Try one, if it doesn't work, try the other.

I just submitted my application and so far I have only received the first NOA I-751 Receipt Notice.

There is only one receipt number (WAC.......) and reference number at the top. The WAC ref is not working in the online tool.

If I understand this correctly, I need to wait for the next mail, the Bio appointment, in order to get a new WAC number that we allow me to track the status of my application on line. Is that correct?

CR-1 Spouse Visa, Filled abroad (I am the Beneficiary / Applicant)

2012 USCIS (MSC)

October 15: I-130 NOA1

December 15: NOA2

2013 NVC (BRS) Case number received 5 weeks after NOA2 - DS-3032
February 25: AOS and IV delivered to NVC

March 13: Case complete
April 3: Interview - Visa approved - USCIS Immigrant Fee paid

May: POE (Dallas Fort Worth Airport)

2015 REMOVAL OF CONDITIONS

February 18: NOA I-751 Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence

March 18: Biometrics appointment

August 17: approved

Yes, that is correct. It says so right on the letter. The number to use online comes with the Biometrics letter.
