Hi all!

Has anyone here ever had to obtain court records? We just had our interview in Tokyo last week, and the immigration officer had asked to us send court records. My wife has never been to court, so they had told her to send a document stating that she has never been to court. After contacting the district court office, they told us that they don't have any documents like that. Even contacted the police, and their answer was the same. Then contacted Tokyo embassy, and their reply was the same. So we are in a loop now, and don't know what to do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Its been so quiet here lately...

I had my medical today and my interview is scheduled for nov 9.

Theres an issue with my previous (expired) passports that I mailed in, only one is on file and was asked via email to bring the other one at the interview. I called again today and told them I mailed both in, the missing one has my maiden name on it and Im thinking that might cause the confusion, I really hope they find it and soon.

I have a question regarding security at the embassy. Is formula allowed inside? I asked on the phone today if I can bring my 4 months old baby with me at the interview and was told yes, and bring his (american) passport too. But Im anticipating a long wait, my baby will get hungry and will need his formula. If anyone has any experience with this, please share.

Hey guys, does anybody know if the Osaka/Tokyo consulate accept joint sponsors? I am British and my Fiancé is an American, we both live in Japan and want to move to the states with her Mom filling out the I-134 sponsor form, anyone else been through anything similar?

Hi everyone, so we just got our NOA2 and I was wondering about the embassy interview. Does the embassy schedule the interviews or do we do it ourselves? Just wondering what to expect when that time comes.

You will do it when the time comes. Before that, you will have to schedule and complete your medical interview.

This will all be laid out in Packet 4, which you should receive within a week or so of the Embassy receiving your application from the US State Department.

01/15/2015 - Met online (japan-guide.com)
04/02/2015 - Met in Tokyo; spent month together
04/15/2015 - Engaged!
07/11/2015 - I-129F sent to Dallas
07/16/2015 - NOA1; transferred to California Service Center (CSC)
07/29/2015 - NOA2
08/24/2015 - Received case/invoice number; case forwarded to Tokyo Consulate
09/04/2015 - Aya receives Packet 3
09/??/2015 - Aya completes documentation, gets police report, etc. Told by consulate we can't schedule interview until after
medical, and that it will take about a month to get the medical appt
10/05/2015 - Aya (finally!) has medical
10/09/2015 - Medical report issued (no shots!)
10/16/2015 - Aya gets date for Interview

My fiance just finished her interview, but she wasn't sure if she got the visa or not!

Her English isn't the best, and she left without asking or double checking whether she passed or failed.

She said that they told her they will be mailing her passport back to her in a few days.

I assume that this means that she passed, and the visa will be included in her passport when she gets it back.

Would the proccess be different if there was a problem? I can't really imagine any problems what we would have. I'm just worried now because she said she didn't know if she passed!

Hard to say. Aya just had her interview, and got her visa. She doesn't speak any English, so she requested a Japanese interviewer (the Embassy gives you that choice). She was told she would have her visa mailed to her within a week's time.

I'd advise your fiancee to call the Embassy and double check the results, this time in Japanese. :) Not sure which US Embassy you are using, but the one in Tokyo has support staff who can answer questions in Japanese.

Good luck!!

Sounds like your fiancee has passed the interview.

Check your visa status tomorrow and a days later. Today and tomorrow it's most likely to be in AP, which means they are printing your visa.

(Some couples get a "real" AP, which is very long.)

If your relationship is legit, then I guess your fiancee will get her passport with visa in 1-2 weeks.

Check the status how? On the website where the interview was scheduled?

I think she is a bit overconfident in her English ability, so she said she would do the interview in English :P

I'm pretty sure that she probably passed though, after piecing together more of what she has told me now.

Yes, this site:

https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx

I think I've read somewhere on this site that if a consulate officer decided not to grant you a visa, he/she won't retain your passport and give you some slip (pink paper?).

At the moment your best choice would be to try not worrying and wait for 2 days. :star:

Another question: are we required to send in previous expired passports with Packet 4? I'm seeing where a poster was asked to send in her expired passports but I'm wondering if that's just a special case? I don't have my expired passports here with me and I'm not sure if I know where they are lol.

It's not a requirement... You can send in if you still have it.. I didn't send mine and it was fine...

I am the one who sent the expired passports, it was specified in the letter i received from the embassy. And after they didn't find one they asked for it in an email by issue year.So it was quite specific. I don't know if it was just for my particular case, wait for the letter from the embassy and see what they require from you.

One of the emails did say that if I can't provide them, I need to give a statement explaining the reason why. So I guess its not a big issue if you don't have them.
