Do not be depressed! There are other couples who are waiting beyond 5 months. You never know, your case might be expedited as I knew California works faster than other service centers!

Thank you as well!! I seriously want to do a little happy dance right now.

We really needed a bit of hope :goofy::star:

Can't believe the interview for August 10 has been called due to maintenance... My fiancée just bought her tickets. She's believing that someone is telling her not to go. Totally disappointed

Question about the medical photos.

The instructions say to bring "four(4) passport-sized photographs (30mm x 40 mm)" to the medical examination.

However, 30mm x 40mm is NOT a passport size! Japanese passport photos are 35mm x 45mm, and US passport photos are 2x2 inches. So ####### do they want? Do they actually want 30x40 photos, or do they want Japanese passport size photos? This is so confusing.

Another question here, my fiance is really freaking out and worried that this could cause everything to fall apart, but I don't think it's that serious.

We have already had the I-129f approved, the only thing left is to go to the interview.

However, when my fiance received a copy of the I-129f, she noticed that her Japanese name had been printed in a Chinese font, which results in a small stroke on her name being displayed incorrectly.

To be clear, I actually cut and pasted her correct Japanese name into the I-129f form, but due to the font used, a single tiny stroke in one of the Kanji is vertical instead of horizontal.

Could this potentially cause issues with her getting approved? Should I call the embassy and ask about it? I'm actually sort of afraid to call incase they might flag the file in some way.

Well the USCIS told me I need to contact the embassy. Love how they give me the runaround. At this point all I can do is just *hope* the name thing doesn't cause an issue.

For anyone who might be still filling out an i-129f: be aware that the PDF document for the i-129f form does not contain a proper Japanese font, and some characters may be printed as the chinese version of the character.

I am so sorry for all the burdens you are having now. This visa procedures is really tough. I had my son's name, our Japan address written in kanji alongwith my name in both kanji and katakana but we didn't get any probs. Maybe just wait for any actions from the embassy. In which way, your fiancé has submitted her koseki tohon in Japanese . They have the copy of the "right " characters. Or they may not noticed at all.

Goodluck

Quick tax question here.

I have been living in Japan for the past 6 years and haven't filed since I left. I am applying the I-130 for my wife now and am sending it soon but when we go in for the interview later on, will not having the tax forms be a huge problem?

Has anybody had this problem before? Should I file as soon as possible and get those copies?

You will be required to submit copies of your returns (or IRS Transcripts thereof) for the most recent 3 years if I remember properly.

I would get those filed quickly, and request IRS transcripts for them right away.

Best of luck!
