From what I've read about the interview. You will both be waiting and she will get called up to the window to do her interview right there. She has to be alone at the window.

Sure... but if the embassy doesn't know I'm coming and I'm not on a list, I won't get past security.

I also have questions about the I-134 and if theynare looking for anything specific. Lastly, a Petitioner's address change/update. I suppose the support-japan email address is my best bet.

Has anyone ever done Skype chat? Is there a fee to call the 050 or the 703 phone numbers?

Hey, I was looking for a good place to post this video from the US Embassy in Tokyo. I think this helped to settle some nerves a bit about the interview, even though the visa was different, the process was similar. Hope it can help someone else out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GxOZrZegdTk

I went to the US embassy in Tokyo last year without making an appointment or being on any list, I just walked in and went through the metal detector. You're the petitioner so obviously you are a US citizen, right? There should be no reason for them to not let you in.

I use Skype all the time, if you want to call land lines you have to pay, but the rates are quite good.

Hi all,

My fiancee paid online for the Visa last night and tried to choose an appointment date on the Travel Doc website, but when she gets to the calendar section, all days are greyed and it says something about Interview Dates are Unavailable. Did any of you have this? Is there a few days for the Travel Doc website to open up the calendar so that she can choose a date? Appreciate some feedback. My fiancee will obtain her police certificate and schedule her medical evaluation so we are getting there, but being unable to schedule the interview after paying was an unexpected hurdle.

After further research, I found that to schedule with the Tokyo embassy, my fiancee needs to email them requesting the interview date. She sent it out yesterday, we'll see if she gets a response. Any information from those of you who have gone through the interview process in Tokyo will be appreciated. We hope to get an interview on August 12.

Frankly, I do not recommend anyone to rely on this advice about access to the embassy.

My Skype question was specifically related to Skype chatting with the USEM in Tokyo.

I followed the instructions and paid it on a machine at the bank. It's not as confusing as you think. What do the instructions say?

I'm hoping to get my fiance to pay the fee the same day as Packet 3 is mailed, so we can speed up the process.

What are the instructions to pay at the bank?

If anyone can assist, I need to know

  1. How much Yen to send for the K1 Visa?
    • I see it's $230 for immigrant visas, listed in the Tokyo embassy's FAQ. But K1 Visa isn't an immigrant visa. Is it still $230?
    • Can the fee be paid in Yen?
  2. What options are there to pay? (I see vague directions on the Tokyo embassy's FAQ page, but I need specifics)
    • Can I also pay from the U.S. via online payment or something?

  3. What are the step-by-step directions to pay the fee? (MUST BE SPECIFIC! Payment via ATM sounds like the most convenient.)

I would appreciate information from anyone about this matter. My goal is to send all the documents and pay the fee on the same day packet 3 gets mailed out. Whatever it takes to reduce the wait time. Thanks in advance.

One real question now:

What must be sent to the Tokyo embassy for packet 3?

I see it says to send DS-230 Part I, but do I also send the DS-156 (two copies) and DS-156K along with it? Or do they only need receive the DS-230 as part of the packet 3 paperwork?

When my fiancee got packet 3 from the Tokyo embassy, she just followed the directions, it's straight foward. I don't recall exactly what she sent DS230 Part I for sure. From what I read, 2 copies of DS156 and a copy of the passport photo page. If you want me to ask my fiancee, msg me but as I said, the packet is pretty self explanatory.

We took a short break after packet 3 because I went to visit her in Japan. Recently my fiancee paid online for the visa and emailed the request for interview and received acceptance for August 12.

Now for the medical eval, police certificate, and documents for the interview. Almost there.

Takeo, your fiancee and mine have an interview on the same day!

Before she even got packet 3 she was able to get confirmed for an interview on August 12th. So for everyone else, it seems you can set up an appointment before you pay the fee or send in any paperwork connected with packet 3. I expected to wait a month (which I would have considered a lucky break).

I'm not sure how long it takes for her to get the packet, but if it isn't too much trouble I'd appreciate it if you could ask your fiancee what she had to mail back to the embassy. I want to get the paperwork finished as soon as possible.
