The good news for Japan filers is that once you get the NOA2, the rest is a walk in the park.

The entire experience at the US Embassy in Tokyo was easier than any given visit to the CA DMV. ;)

That's great to hear. :) We're both very excited for the future and it's good to hear that the Tokyo embassy won't be that bad.

Oh joy, they screwed up my fiance's name on the NOA1 hard copy. Now I get to deal with their operators first thing Monday morning. >:(

Hi everyone! I just joined VJ yesterday. My fiance and I already filed for K-1 visa and he received the NOA2 yesterday. I was wondering if I could ask some tips and advice from people who have the same case as ours. I am a Filipino but a legal resident here in Japan.

Not sure, but I sure am happy for the fast approval:)

I just called NVC this morning and found my petition was forwarded to Tokyo on 10/13.

My fiancee should receive Package 3 by the end of the week or next week!

Hope yours go smooth, too.

My fiancee has instruction from US Embassy (Tokyo), but we are on hold for now.

Since we are still waiting a police record from Canada, we can hold off for a while (ETA for the police record is in Nov/Dec).

I spent 5 days with my fiancee in Japan in Sept. Everything went well, and had a great time. We talked about futures, life in the states

etc.. and she was very positive. I think it started with the NOA2, and packet 3 from embassy, she is now dealing with her worries and doubt

about getting married and move to the states. It's a big life changing event and I fully support and understand where she is coming from, but

I have to admit, it is very tough to support with the LDR.

In the US, it's cold feet, but in Japanese, it's a "marriage blue" that everyone is expected go through.

Any of you Japan filers' fiancee have/had any of this? As all of you are aware, coming from a major city in Japan to

the State is a huge life changing event. How do you support your fiancee? Any advice?

I may have to fly out there this month to have a face to face conversation with her...

I didn't even notice this part of the forum! Awesome! I was recommended to ask some questions here, since my girlfriend is Japanese.

If anyone has the time to look and give some Japanese biased guidance it would be awesome: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/337260-k-1-fiance-visa-questions-in-advance/

Thanks! Good luck to everyone here as well!

I am confused and starting to panic. I am a US citizen with a Japanese wife and dual-citizenship baby. I was recently hired by a company in the US and they want me to start on the 1st of December, so I am planning to return to the US on the 25th of November. I hurredly sent in the I-130 to the Chicago lockbox and got a proof of receipt. I checked the status today and it says that it is in the "Request for Evidence" stage, but nothing has come in the mail yet.

With only two weeks until I go, I need to know if there is anyway that my wife can come to the US with me. Can I speed up the visa process at the Tokyo Embassy or can she go on a travel visa and we continue the paperwork elsewhere?

I just wish I could make an appointment with the US embassy in Tokyo and talk to someone there, but it is not that easy, isn't it.

Any help you can give me?

Hey,

Does anyone know what we are or aren't allowed to take into the embassy in Tokyo. I know other embassies are pretty strict and you have to leave all electronic items - phones, car keys etc in a locker outside the embassy. How about Tokyo? What's the procedure?

I was at the Tokyo embassy for the interview. There was someone outside who collected all electronic items.

Try to take as few things as you can. We left our cellphones behind as they would have been confiscated.
