おめだと to all those continuing on your visa journey.

Just a tip for USCs....I've been taking Nihongo classes at my local college. Learned Hiragana and Katakana, as well as grammar, and now I'm working on Kanji.

For years I've struggled trying to do it on my own, the classroom environment works well, and it's a lot cheaper than going to a specialized language school or buying Rosetta Stone.

So did you just contact the clinic and tell them that you need a medical exam for a K-1 Visa? Did they ask to see any documents? Do they mail you the results and you take them to the embassy? What about the PC? Did you show them a NOA2?

Thanks,

Chris

Anyway, good luck to all of you that are on the verge of getting your Visas. Keep the faith and I cannot state it enough....have PATIENCE!!!

I can see a Tokyo embassy appointment on the horizon, and I'd like to prepare the required documents for the embassy interview. Most original documents, like marriage cert., PCC, I"ll be sending in with the DS-230, and will be forwarded to the embassy from NVC. Obviously Sachie will need to take in medical results/forms, a passport, and I believe a passport photo. Other than "evidence of relationship" proof which Tokyo embassy apparently never looks at, what are the *required* documents for an interview at the Tokyo embassy? I read in so many posts that people "took medical forms and other required documents" to the interview, and I'm trying to figure out what are those other documents. I'm sure we'll get a notice from NVC or embassy stating what the list of documents is, I'm just trying to prepare ahead of time. Thanks.

Hey Mike & Sachie,

Yes, you should bring all those things that you mentioned and bring in copies of those things that you want your originals back. My wife also took those "evidence of relationship" things and yes, she said her officer didn't ask to see them, but another lady who was next to her was asked for some of those things. I think it is a case by case thing, so I would still take it just in case. She will also need one of those Xpacks 500 (or whatever it's called) so that they can mail her passport back to her. It is mentioned on the Tokyo Embassy website. My wife knew exactly what it was and I guess it is available at most of the convenience stores there. Look at the embassy website for the list of documents(there is a check list there). If I remember, that website was pretty informative. But either way, it is better to bring more than not enough, especially after waiting all this time. You don't want to be turned down or delayed for something you have but just didn't bring to the interview.

Good luck and hope for a speedy interview and reunion,

vny

Here is the IV interview checklist.

http://tokyo.usembassy.gov/e/visa/tvisa-iv...viewcheck2.html

This is actually for DCFers according to their Japanese site, but I am sure what your wife needs to bring would be pretty similar to the things listed here.

Hope it helps.

Good luck!
