Hi everyone!

Just dropping in to say hello. We have finished our packet 3 requirements and have an interview coming up on 2-Nov. I am going to visit her in Japan during this time. Won't be attending the interview of course, just going for the emotional support. :) Hope everything goes smoothly! I'll be so relieved when we have that visa in hand.

I have been reading some of the embassy reviews for Tokyo, and most seem to be very quick and easy.

Best of luck to all!

Regards,

Deryck

Hey Everyone! Kenchin is home safe and sound... finally. I almost can't believe that it's real, it feels as though he has been gone for forever but only a day at the same time.

We're both so excited... we're going to eat dinner at our favorite restaurant tonight to celebrate.

I hope that everyone else who is still waiting for their visas are reunited soon.

I'm aiming to send in our AOS packet on October 15, the day after we marry and get our wedding certificate, so we'll be sticking around with the rest of you for that journey as well. Yoroshiku ne.

Congrats on the interview date, D&M. Tokyo embassy is really really easy. Normally.

Thanks for the well wishes! Going nuts waiting for the interview date to arrive, but mostly just can't wait to see my sweetie in Japan in 3 weeks! :)

I'll try to pass the time preparing for wedding in 2010 and upcoming visit to Japan in November :D

You are already planning your wedding?! Now I feel really behind schedule! hehe

Seriously though, we have discussed it, but haven't decided on what we would like to do yet. We will most likely get married in January or February if all goes well. One option we are considering is to have a simple ceremony at a Shinto shrine here in the states, with a reception to follow later in the year when it is warmer outside.

Best of luck to you, and everyone else patiently waiting! :clock:

Hey Lauraandfrogger,

A much deserved Congratulations to you!!!:dance::dance: After all, patience does come in handy in this mess of immigration. Hope all your wishes and dreams have and will now come true!!! Best of Luck and Best wishes on your upcoming wedding. Gambatte ne!!!

Deryck and Miho,

Good luck on your upcoming interview. If you're there in Japan, I would tag along with your fiance to the interview. Having the USC there will probably make it go a little smoother. I'm not positive, but I can't see how it wouldn't. And since you are the USC, you will be allowed entry to the embassy and your fiance will be allowed in with the appointment letter. After all the embassy is supposed to be there to "serve" (which sometimes I wonder) us USCs. Anyway, good luck and GO EARLY!!!

vny

Yeah I've already ordered my dress and I'm looking at a few reception places for about 45 people! ^_^ The hardest part is trying to plan everything without having a concrete date plus trying to stay within our meager budget. I wonder how everyone else did it or is doing it? We want to get married as soon as he gets to the states so we can get the marriage certificate copy (2 weeks to produce) and then send it out with the AOS papers. He wants to get the EAD quickly so he can work again so we are trying to time everything as best we can.

For those who filed for K1 visa, how did plan your wedding or plan your working situation? Did EAD come quickly after filing for AOS?

Deryck and Miho,

Glad to hear things are moving along for you! :)

I second what vny said. I would accompany her to the interview. I went with my wife and, though they asked if I knew that I didn't have to be there, I believed it may have contributed to things going as smoothly as they did. We had to wait a bit between visits to the counter but we were never asked any unusual questions and the counter visits went really quickly. If you want to know more look up my time line and you can read about our experience. Also as vny said, get there early. There will be a long line.

Good luck! I'm sure everything will go just fine! :)

Hey guys!

My AOS packet is taking me longer to put together than I thought it would too. It may or may not be because of the big distraction sitting on my couch playing video games right now. My new, more realistic time goal, is to have it out by Monday or Tuesday.

The medical paper we apparently have to submit has me disgruntled. What did you do for the medical paper, Akiko, did you just cross your fingers and send in the vaccination records you got in Japan or did you get an American doctor to write the paper for you? And if you don't mind, how much did they charge you to write the paper (if that's the route you took)?

And did it really take that long to get a certified marriage certificate (lol) for you guys? We civil ceremonied it (for now) and got ours the same day.
