What is the proper dress code for the interview?

Thanks!

Wedding dress!!! Oh and tux for your fiance since he will be there with you! :D

lol good one.

Your interview is soon! Good luck!

Yup, her interview is on Mon 6/8, but will actually be Sun here so will find out soon. Been having hard time sleeping lately with worry, but everything should go fine. It is just all this waiting that has been killing me.

I will ask her what she wears, but I really don't think it makes that much of a difference as long as your relationship is real. That is what they really want to know. And since Bronson will be there, I don't think you should have a problem. Best wishes to you and klester and Johnny & Yumi, who also have their interviews on the 22nd. I guess you all can meet there and have a few drinks after. Have one for me too. かんぱい!!!

vny

Thanks vny! Your wife will have her interview very soon, good luck to her!

Deryck and Miho, welcome! I hope your process goes quickly and smoothly. If you have any problems or questions, this is the place to ask. Everyone has been very helpful and friendly. Good Luck!

Ok, I have a few stupid questions regarding the I-134 and evidence of financial support:

1. Does it really matter if the I-134 is printed double-sided? I am guessing not, but you never know...

2. I have a letter from my employer, as well as bank statements. I am far from the poverty line, but I decided to get tax transcripts from the IRS just in case. However, they sent me Tax Account Transcripts, not Tax Return Transcripts. Can you use either, or do they only want the Tax Return Transcripts?

Thanks again to everyone for your help. Good Luck!

J&Y - I don't think that it matters whether or not the document is double sided, as long as it is notarized. Some of the other people in the K1 forum said that theirs was not and it was fine.

As for the tax papers, it's not required and as long as it is proven that you are not below the poverty line by your other documents, I wouldn't be worried about it. At best it will be counted as additional evidence and at worse it will be disregarded, but still proven that you are able to sponsor by the other required documents that you already have. I brought my tax return transcripts, so I can't tell you whether or not they will be accepted by personal experience, unfortunately.

Hey Johnny & Yumi,

Thanks, In fact I need to text her mobile phone in a few minutes to wake her up. She wanted to get up at 5:30 for a 9:30 appt. She has to catch the train from Saitama to Tokyo so she wanted to start early since today will be a work day.

Anyway, as far as double-sided, don't think that really matters. I think all the papers I turned in was single sided. Figured that way they wouldn't miss anything since they would check every page. Didn't want to give them any opportunity to delay because they missed something.

As for the transcripts, I actually sent away for them too and mine are labeled Tax "Return" Transcripts (vice "Account"). But they came too late cause I wanted to mail as soon as I received some papers from my wife, so I just sent them copies of my tax returns. I do Turbo Tax and electronic file every year so I just printed out a copy of the last three years, signed them (dated the date I filed) and turned them in. Never had any problem with that. A little more papers to mail, but I figured what the hell as long as they get what they wanted and we don't get any RFEs.

So far all the paperwork, went right through with no RFEs, so must have done something right (for a change).

Good luck,

vny

Hey everyone,

Just got word from my wife that she passed her interview.:dance::dance: She texted me when she got out then I could call her for just a little while until she had to get on the train. She said that it was really easy but she had to wait for a long time. Will get more details tonight when we skype.

So good luck and best wishes to all of you too. Sorry, Akiko, didn't get chance to ask her what she was wearing yet, but will ask her tonight.

Congratulations vny!!

And thanks again to vny and lauraandfrogger for your advice. Yeah, the double-sided issue was silly, so I won't worry about that anymore. The Letters from my boss and my banks should be enough evidence of meeting the 125% requirement, but I just wanted to have some back-up evidence, just in case.

Lauraandfrogger, I would definitely call your congressmen/senator offices tomorrow to get a hold of someone about your situation. They should be able to get USCIS moving to see what is going on with your application. I hope you get some good news before June is out.

Congratulations!!!

Yaay! I'm so excited for you!

Thanks Akiko and Johnny & Yumi, I am so relieved now.

Spoke to her last night and she said it went pretty smoothly. Only thing was she had to wait a long time. She got there at around 8:45 for 9:30 appointment and she said she was given number 247, but she thinks they started from 200 so she was like number 47. Seems like it is first come first served and your appointment time is not so important. So she said at first she had to wait around 2 hours before they called her to provide her documents, basically only medical since everything else went to NVC. And she gave them copies of our marriage certificate and her family register so we could get our originals back. Then she had to wait again about a half hour for finger prints. After that she said she had to wait for over another hour to get called for the interview.

But she said the interview was really easy for her. She said another 3 or 4 people were called for interviews at the same time and they all were asked who wanted the interview in Japanese. So she said everyone said yes, they wanted the interview in Japanese, but the other people got the Japanese speaking interviewers because she can speak a little English. So she got the lady who spoke only English as her interviewer. Then the lady told her that she had an easy case and only asked her a few questions like where I work and a couple more questions. She didn't ask to see any pictures or anything. But she said that the other people who went to the Japanese speaking interviewers were asked a lot more questions and was asked for pictures. So after she was asked just the few questions, the lady told her she was done. She said she was so surprised she asked the interviewer "Is that it, we are done???". And she was told "Yes, Congratulations". Then they asked her addresses for where to send the GC and where to mail her passport back to her. She said she thinks her interviewer wanted to go to lunch too, so maybe that's why her interview was so fast. lol. So now I guess as long as she gets her passport back, she'll be coming on the 19th.

But Akiko, she didn’t wear anything special. Just regular everyday clothes. (I still like the wedding dress thing though, since yours is a K-1, haha!!)

And Johnny, as far as proving the 125%, I think I only sent in my last 6 months paystubs. The tax returns (or transcripts) are already required so between that and the paystubs, they can tell how much you make. But I guess you can always send more info.

So Good Luck on all your interviews. If anything, go early and get the English speaking interviewer. lol

Hey Akiko,

Best Wishes on you interview on Monday. And also to Johnny & Yumi. I hope your interviews go as smoothly as my wife's. Seems like she had a really easy time. Just remember, go early and pick the English interview if you can. Not sure if the English interview would really be easier, but from what my wife said, she had a really easy time.

She is coming tomorrow and I am really looking forward to seeing her again. I have to pick her up and then we take care of her SSN stuff tomorrow, hopefully.

Good Luck again Akiko, and hope you enjoy your time with Bronson since he was going to be there with you. Let us know how things go. (F)
