I finally got visa approved today August 21🎉

I got in the embassy 8:30AM and went through the airport type security check. Got myself a number from the kiosk and arranged documents according to what was written on the paper given. Handed out documents for checking. Was seated and waited to be called till 0945 got fingerprints taken. 0955H was interviewed by the consul and was asked the following:

Who filed for your petition?

how and when did we meet?

who messaged first?

When did you get married?

Where was he when you first met?

Where is he now?

First marriage for both of you?

Any children?

I see You got nursing educational background?

How did you come to Japan?

Birth Certificate and Marriage certificate was handed back to me.

Your visa is approved it will come to your mail within a week.🎉🥳🎉🥳🎉🥳

I finished the interview in 1.5hrs it was smooth and people at the embassy were so nice.

Hello,

I filed an I-130 for my wife in October of last year, and it was approved in June of this year. We received the NVC account information on June 11th. I was able to submit most of the documents by the 14th. I wasn't aware of the recommendation to wait until all documents were ready, so I submitted what I had on the 14th. The one thing that took significantly longer than expected was a police report. I finally got the police report last week, and submitted that on August 15th. Now I'm waiting for DQ. I'm hoping the USCIS furlough is not affecting NVC. Anyway, I'm hoping I can get DQ by end of October. Looks like Japan may start loosening the re-entry restrictions on permanent residents, so at least I might be able to come and go while we wait for her DQ.

Hi everyone,

Just an update that I entered US last week.

No checks on COVID at the airport, very smooth entry. They confirmed if the address in the system was up to date and that was it.

Hope you all get to be with your loved one soon😊

Hi.  I am flying into the US this coming week. What was your port of entry, may I ask?  Mine will be LAX.  I would love to know what it is like at LAX.

Hi there. Our time frame aren't that different. We submitted the DS-260 and all the necessary documents (Affidavit of Support and Civil documents) to the NVC on August 11th and we got our DQ on August 18th. I made mistake by uploading the tax return of my husband to the tax schedule, and i thought we need to correct that, but surprisingly, NVC accepted that and maybe they understand what we meant. So we are right now is waiting for the interview date, which I heard would be 2~3 months since the DQ. And from which I knew, Japan is start loosening the re-entry restrictions, but in some condition you need to show the immigration officer in the airport for the PCR test result that you have to take 72 hours before arriving in Japan, so just keep an eye for the update information. Just sharing our experience and hope you will hear about the DQ for your wife, good luck :)

That can be difficult. While I was in Japan my coverage was specifically for employees on international assignment. We couldn't establish our new coverage until after I had formally transitioned to the domestic part of my company. A few weeks after setting in is when I received our new coverage cards. Perhaps if you employer has a handbook that outlines coverage options. Maybe at least something that can demonstrate the insurance will be available once you relocate?

Just a quick update - visa issued after submitting additional insurance document. Finally!!!!
