I have filled out our DS160 and tried to submit the payment but says I have to fill out the DS160 first. Can anyone fill me in on how to pay now and schedule the interview?

I have our DS160 number, invoice ID, NVC number and the like and would like to expedite everything we can. We have all the other required documents except the medical which we will schedule to do this week.

Hi!

I have recently received the packet from the Embassy. I have a question about the documents they want us to submit. They asked to submit old passport. What if the old passport is lost? it is stated in the website to submit expired passports issued in the past 10 years. The misplaced passport  was issued last 2007. Do I need to write a letter about the lost passport? Thank you for anyone who can help.

Is your case in transit or ready?

Create an account if you haven’t, fill out some info and pay the fee.

after that you can schedule your interview on the same website

Thanks, I figured it out about 10 minutes after posting. March 30th is her interview date.

Anyone else use the Masatoki Adachi Clinic in Kobe for their medical? The average of the other clinics is 3-5 days for results but as this is the closest to her she scheduled there for Monday and they told her 17 business days before she will receive them, which is the day she's supposed to go to the interview. Anyone else experience a delay like this?

My wife went here. She was told that to reschedule the interview as the results can take up two weeks to deliver. I don't remember how long it took exactly, but it came around 10 days or so. I would reschedule the interview just to be safe.

We're in a rather unusual situation so we would rather not reschedule. She will just have to use one of the clinics in Tokyo instead unfortunately.

My wife had her medical a few days before her interview. The doctors told her it wouldn't be a problem if she interviewed before the results came in. When I called the Tokyo Embassy to ask them, they said the same thing. It was explained to me that if she is approved, pending medical, they will hold on to her passport until the results come in. After that they would issue the visa and mail it to her. You should have nothing to worry about.

She called the Embassy and they stated that it use to be that way but as of the beginning of the year they have been forced to be strict about the requirements for the interview and that there was a good chance that if she didn't have it in hand by the interview date they would turn her away.

Good news is the clinic doctor said he doesn't know who she talked to on the phone but should have her results in hand by the 23rd but no later than the 27th.

Strange. They never said anything about being turned away to me. My wife's medical was on Feb 25 and her interview was on March 2.  The results were ready before the interview so IDK maybe she would have been turned away if they weren't. But it looks like you're in good shape if the docs said the results would be ready before the interview.

Hmmm, I know the new DS5540 has been causing shifts in the norm lately. Were you required to submit that form? Could the difference be in visa types? Were you two K1 or CR1?

Either way we should be okay. Her work contract expires March 31st which means she loses her apartment as part of the contract, which we always anticipated because she can resign somewhere else and get a new apartment in a different region, but if she can move out and move to the US at the same time would save us both a great amount of grief too.

CR1 so our paths are a little different. But really it's probably just a case who you talk to. Every time you speak to someone new you get a different answer.

edit: She had her medical in Tokyo and interviewed at the Tokyo Embassy.

Definitely the case, she has talked to 3 people now that have all said the same thing. She could get there and be told something completely different again. Were you required to do the DS5540?

Nope. I didn't do the DS-5540. Looking at that form I'm glad I didn't have to. Seems like a PIA. Just the Affidavit of Support form, I-864.
