Frequent international traveler here, too. I can relate to that. My best to you both. Have fun!

Thanks,

I hope the person who started the "your fiance/husband's first night in america" will browse through and review my experience from this morning. This is her second trip to the US and today was similar to her first trip in late July after we were married. So maybe I have a little experience now.

For us, the important thing is to get the greetings, hugs, kisses, kind words, looks, ... repeat ... repeat ... then give the other person a little time to "decompress". The rest of the things come later and are much more appreciated and less stressful. Later can be 5-6 hours or the next day. Doesn't matter because we are together and it (romantic stuff) will happen.

btw: I'm very relaxed, yet excited just knowing she is here. What is the old saying ... good things come to those who wait.

anyway that is my .02¢ ... ymmv

to quickly help identify others who expressed interest on the other topic, I've grabbed two posts from the other thread. I only did a very quick search with no intention of omitting others who expressed interest. To anyone who feels I missed your post it was not intentional because I know your post(s) were important because you were interested in helping/ sharing too.

did you have something really special planned for his arrival? (besides well....you know. hehe)

i'm trying to put together something really romantic for when my fiance arrives. i know he'll be really tired and probably overwhelmed but i want to do something at home. cook a romantic dinner, candles, perfumes, music, shower, blahblah...all the normal stuff, but i want something MORE! something more thoughtful but i can't think of!

(i know its a little early but i have a lot of time on my hands to think so...)

what did you ladies do? or plan to do?:innocent:

....... what to do on the first nights. Maggie needs few suggestions, her guy is very close.

More male perspective is a quality we are sorely missing here. It would provide a much needed balance. I wish more of the MENA men would post. They seem quite shy, but then, several who have posted get razzed, so . . .

I'd like to think my experience could help someone(s) avoid the sensation of undue anxiety or disappointment when their SO arrives. . Feelings could become hurt because of the best of intentions.

I think male perspectives are valuable and that we are suffering here because we are out of gender balance. Your suggestions on the other thread are things that many would not think of because of a female mindset. We are thirsty for more male insight on the board

Speak for yourself. Not all of us isolate ourselves from a man's perspective, nor do we find it useful for bigotted creeps like Charles to spew his garbage.

How can one claim God cares to judge a fornicator over judging a lying, conniving bully? I guess you would if you are the lying, conniving bully.

Thanks. I'll try to give a male perspective when the opportunity appears.

btw: reading the discussions is broadening my knowledge of the region and culture. I've spent time in ME ... not NA and have had great co-workers from ME so I have a good base from which to start. I really appreciate the opportunity to learn more
