Gov. Scott Walker: ‘I don’t know’ whether Obama is a Christian

What is his behavior? How is he different from any other presidents? Clinton cheated on his wife, his religion wasn't called into question. Bush lied about WMD's and no one went in on his faith. What is is about Obama that makes him different?

Let's be clear, you hate him. No matter what he would say, you'd find an issue with it.

I don't hate him, I don't like his actions. Hate is something I do not allow into my heart.

OBAMA:

I am a Christian.

So, I have a deep faith. So I draw from the Christian faith.

On the other hand, I was born in Hawaii where obviously there are a lot of Eastern influences.

I lived in Indonesia, the largest Muslim country in the world, between the ages of six and 10.

My father was from Kenya, and although he was probably most accurately labeled an agnostic, his father was Muslim.

And I’d say, probably, intellectually I’ve drawn as much from Judaism as any other faith.

(A patron stops and says, “Congratulations,” shakes his hand. “Thank you very much. I appreciate that. Thank you.”)

So, I’m rooted in the Christian tradition. I believe that there are many paths to the same place, and that is a belief that there is a higher power, a belief that we are connected as a people. That there are values that transcend race or culture, that move us forward, and there’s an obligation for all of us individually as well as collectively to take responsibility to make those values lived.

many religious and non religious people believe this to be true. i would think the majority of theologians agree. so many people come from multiple religious backgrounds and that's probably why secular humanism is on the rise in america (the 'connected as a people' bit).

that being said i can't stand any politician speaking about their religion and i really wish this country could get to a place where religion was off the table. not that a politician couldn't talk about it if they wanted to, but the american public wouldn't care to judge them if they did. it's been a while since i went to church but telling someone they weren't a christian wasn't something anyone did, not out loud.

True Christians will speak all day and all night about their willingness to die for Christ. Your boy will not. There's you're proof

So, by this account, does this mean all the presidents before this POTUS weren't Christians?

“Hate is too great a burden to bear. It injures the hater more than it injures the hated.” – Coretta Scott King

"Oppressive language does more than represent violence; it is violence; does more than represent the limits of knowledge; it limits knowledge." -Toni Morrison

He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it.

He did not say he was not. He said he did not know. that's fair enough. the press could have also just as fairly said, Gov Scott refuses to say Obama is not a christian, when asked.

""“I’ve actually never talked about it or I haven’t read about that,” Walker said, his voice calm and firm. “I’ve never asked him that,” he added. “You’ve asked me to make statements about people that I haven’t had a conversation with about that. How [could] I say if I know either of you are a Christian?”

He basically said " I refuse to judge him, because I don't judge people that I have not had a conversation with, on that subject.

Why is this even news ?

Because he gave an evasive answer. Obama has said he is a Christian. Many people can't accept that. It's not really customary to ask for proof.

I like the question. It kind of gages where you are on the wack-job scale. Some people still say Obama is the anti-Christ. It's good that Walker isn't that far out there, but I don't like that he can't bring himself to give a normal human response. If they don't want it to be an issue, just give a normal answer. Why not say something like "Obama says he's Christian, I don't know him personally, and I can't know anymore than that". Then it doesn't look like he's tap dancing around the question.

He's blatantly grandstanding for the religious fundamentalists in the far right.

Agreed. It's frustrating to see. The same thing that didn't work 7 years ago. You would think all that time fillibustering and stonewalling, they could have at least used it to come up with a new strategy.

Clearly he's not a Christian. There were mass killings during the time of the epistles. Even Jesus himself said you would know who is real and who is not by their fruits. Instead of fruit for his fellow "Christians", Obama dropped a big turdball on every Christian in the world after they were randomly beheaded en-masse.

White House press secretary Josh Earnest condemned the “despicable and cowardly murder of twenty-one Egyptian citizens in Libya by ISIL-affiliated terrorists.”
“ISIL’s barbarity knows no bounds. It is unconstrained by faith, sect or ethnicity,” Earnest said, using the White House’s term for the Islamic State. He called it a “heinous act” and a “wanton killing of innocents.”
While the White House statement did not mention Christian victims or Islamic extremists, it did call the attackers “terrorists.” That stood in contrast with a statement released Saturday by National Security Council spokeswoman Bernadette Meehan condemning Saturday’s deadly shooting at a free speech event in Denmark that did not use the word “terrorist” to describe the incident – a word used by the Danish prime minister.
