I didn't check ours for a few days and when I looked again it had left on 01Apr and was in transit. DHL showed it arrived here on Friday when everything is closed for Easter Weekend so wont be delivered to the consulate till Tuesday when it reopens... (this obviously was never meant to be a quick process for us)

Edited by Andie

Mar 2011 - After 5mths denied for lost docs - Attempts to follow up failed. Mar 18 2012 - I-129F sent - No sign of NOA1 but they have banked the check...Jul 24 - Update - USCIS has located our file
Infopass Apt - they sorted through everything - our 2011 and 2012 file keep getting mixed up - getting us a Case# (still waiting) Dec- Infopass Appt- expecting to get a case # in about a week ..Still no Case number

Mar 2013 Infopass - advised file was in a box somewhere, and it would be quicker for us to refile. Life gets in the way... New petition submitted July 2014 .

Same thing here...ours left on March 31, arrived in one city in Bolivia on Thursday, departed that city for the destination city, but didn't quite make it before the holiday on Friday...but I think the consulate/embassy is open on Monday, hard to tell when the Embassy page shows a 2014 holiday calendar which only shows good Friday as a holiday, not the following Monday.

How thoughtful of them..haha. I think the biggest relief for me is that I know where it is.. at last, and it hasn't disappeared in a pile of paper in Texas or Boston. I'm not totally sure how our process works as I've read different things but I called about the medical a couple of weeks ago and they wont do it until I have the instructions from Packet 3.

I guess for once you're almost hoping Monday isn't a holiday !

Ours works the same way. When I called to book the medical the receptionist asked me if I had my Police Certificate (yes I do), my London case number (yest I do - she doesn't have to know I got it from NVC) and my instructions from the embassy. I truthfully told her that I do have the instructions. Well, it's digital and just a link to the embassy website, so I'm not waiting for a letter that may never arrive, as it's likely USCIS ignored William's letter notifying them of my change of address. Is yours digital or is all the information in the hard copy letter sent to you by the consulate?

I will never understand the point of spending money on postage and printing to send out a letter that simply directs you to a website link, when an email would suffice. I suppose it's for those who don't know you can hound NVC for your number so it contains that and the beneficiary ID and receipt number too, but it would make sense to be able to select the option of post or electronic. They could save a fortune in mailing costs.

I know for a fact that the K1 is only a 1 time use visa. Once you enter the country it can not be used again.

I don't think you can do this. Once you have been granted a visa, you cannot apply for a visa waiver. Any existing VW you have will be void on the granting of your K1. So when you enter the USA for the first time with your passport bearing the K1, your entry is 'used'. It's not worth the risk. Are you not able to go over right away? You have six months from the date of the medical to enter the US, not from the day the visa is issued. If you really want to visit before using the K1, you are better off trying to put off your interview until after the date of your return from visiting. Hope this helps.

Your ESTA should be revoked at this point, with the k1 approval. Several other people I know had theirs revoked. Ours was revoked months ago.

Your safest bet is to get your affairs in order, travel once, and then wait a few months will you get ur conditional residence card and then you can travel.

Thank you everyone.

I just try to work here and get money as much as possible before move there. But my bday is coming in July and fiance wants me to visit so I was thinking I'll visit him in July then come back and work as much as possible then move.

But if that's gonna cost a risk then I won't visit him and work and move.

That's wonderful news. I don't think I have the patience you do. I would have knocked over my coffee in a rush to get to open the packet ;)

That means ours are to follow shortly!
